Mimi Lee is the sleuth in the “Sassy Cat” mysteries. One of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions. So, let’s get to know Mimi.

Mimi Lee

25 years old

Pixie St. James is one of my closest friends, and she invested the capital for my grooming shop.

It’s a big city.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
I love my bedroom, where I can snuggle with my comforter with its cute butterfly design.
Favorite meal and dessert?
I’m a sucker for peanut butter-and-banana sandwiches, especially when I’m stressed. For dessert, just like my sister, I’m a fan of egg tarts.

I like to read. Mostly young adult, if you look at my TBR pile.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
I’d love to go to Hawaii. . .although then I’d have to meet Josh’s parents in person!
What music do you listen to?
I get a kick out of 60’s tunes. I used “Chapel of Love” for my matchmaking mother’s custom ringtone.
Do you have a favorite book?
That’s tough! Although I have a special spot in my heart for that law casebook Josh was reading when we first crossed paths.
What is your idea of a really fun time?
I like living near the beach, so maybe strolling along the sand with Josh and then having a picnic. We also recently went on a lovely romantic gondola ride in Long Beach.
If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
*** Enjoying the Hollywoof Life ***
Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Amateur sleuth. I own a pet grooming salon, and I have one employee, Nicola.
In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
My typical day is relaxed, since I make my own hours. I open up my shop at ten in the morning and then spend the day immersed in flying fur, soap suds, and (once in a while) blueberry facials. Marshmallow is also around, typically napping in his coveted sunny spot. My shop, Hollywoof, is my haven—except when I get dragged away to do investigations.
Mimi Lee Reads Between the Lines is the second book in the “Sassy Cat” cozy mystery series, released November 10, 2020.
When a local teacher is found dead, LA’s newest pet groomer Mimi Lee finds herself in a pawful predicament—with her younger sister’s livelihood on the line.
Mimi Lee is on top of the world. She has a thriving pet grooming business, the sweetest boyfriend, and a talking cat to boot. When she arrives at the elementary school where her sister Alice works, she’s expecting a fun girls’ night out—but instead finds a teacher slumped over in her car, dead.
Alice was the last one to see Helen Reed, which instantly marks her as the prime suspect. Unable to sit quietly and let the authorities walk all over her sister, Mimi starts snooping and talks to Helen’s closest contacts, including one jumpy principal, a two-faced fiancé, and three sketchy teachers. With the help of her sassy but savvy cat, Marshmallow, and a cute kitten named Nimbus, the clock’s ticking for Mimi to get to the bottom of yet another case before her sister gets schooled.
