a-fatal-twistHi there! Mutt and Jeff here from Tracy Weber’s newest Mystery, A Fatal Twist. Those aren’t our real names but Michael, the nice human who’s decided to foster us, hasn’t come up with anything better yet. We’re six-week-old baby labradoodles. I’m Mutt, and I’m a gold female. My brother, Jeff, is all black.

Dru Ann asked us to write a post about a day in our lives, and since puppies live in the moment, we’ll have to write about today! Besides, we’re only six weeks old, so we only have forty-two days to choose from. And for the first fourteen of those, our eyes were closed!

Today’s been exciting and scary, both. We rode in a car for the first time inside a big, dark box. That was the scary part. The exciting part happened when Michael opened it! He said a few swear words when he first found us abandoned outside of his store, Pete’s Pets, but within a few seconds he started smiling and cooing.

He took us to this nice lady called a vet and had us checked out. She gave us a bath to get rid of some itchy little critters called fleas. Let me tell you, baths aren’t very fun at all. But as soon as she finished drying us off, she gave us some yummy treats, and all was forgiven.

Now we’re riding in a car again, this time on the way to Michael’s house. Michael thinks that we’re mellow, but that’s just because we’re super tired from our big adventure. Besides, we have to save up energy. We’ll have a lot of work to do once we get to his place.

Michael told the vet that he’s going to foster us until he finds out who abandoned us and why. He keeps mumbling about this woman named Kate, though. He’s afraid she’ll be mad when she learns that her canine family has tripled. He’s planning to bribe her with yummy smelling Chinese food and a bottle of something called Chardonnay.

We think he’s being silly. Of course Kate won’t mind. We’re hard workers. We dig, and chew, and sing, and we help humans get much-needed cardiovascular exercise. Their heart rate shoots way up whenever they try to catch us. And we’re super considerate. We go to the bathroom indoors. That way our humans don’t have to go outside in the cold weather to pick it up.

Michael is also worried about a German shepherd dog named Bella, which is just plain silly. He says Bella doesn’t like other dogs, but everyone knows that puppies are an exception. Big dogs love having their ears and tails pulled. And what’s more fun than a puppy swinging from your lower lip? As long as Bella gives us all of her food and toys, we’ll get along great.

We hear there’s a murder in our adventure, but we’re not sure what that word means, so you’ll have to read our story to find out.

Join us! We’re going to have so much fun!

Kate is convinced her student is innocent, and she sets out to find the real killer before her testimony condemns Rachel to a life behind bars.
