The Corpse with the Turquoise Toes by Cathy Ace
Series Name: Cait Morgan Mystery #12
Genre: Traditional

Dru’s very short musing
This was a great mystery that had me immersed in all aspects from the beginning to the dramatic finale. Being landlocked and trying to solve a murder, you saw the depth of the characters and how they played off one another. I liked how the author set this up, keeping the tone at an even pace as the tension between all that was happening intertwined with how well this story was being told. Kudos to Cait and Bud for continuing to look for answers in this intriguing tale that I could not put down until it was all said and done. This was one of the best in the series.

Fatal Reunion by Annette Dashofy
Series Name: Zoe Chambers Mystery #11
Genre: Traditional

Dru’s very short musing
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful addition to this long running series. The past meets the present when a young girl goes missing and Zoe’s reunion brings back painful memories. The team of Zoe, Pete, Wayne, Abby and visiting Miguel work together to find a murderer whose footprint come back to haunt the town. The author did a great job in telling this story with the right amount of suspenseful and tense-filled scenarios that kept me engaged from the start. A strategically placed twist blew everything out the water and I couldn’t wait for justice to prevail. This was one of the best stories in the series and I’m so happy there are more adventures with this team.

Kibbles and Death by S.A. Kazlo
Series Name: Samantha Davies Mystery #1
Genre: Cozy

Dru’s very short musing
This was a fun and entertaining whodunit featuring Samantha Davies. When she finds a dead body, the urge to find his killer is strong, especially when her neighbor’s boyfriend is the prime suspect. With the help of her cousin and the annoyance of the “hot” detective, that is what she does. The author did a great job in pulling this story together with few suspects and clues for me to decipher. I enjoyed watching the pieces come together until the only person left standing was the killer. This was a delightfully charming debut and can’t wait to see what is next with Samantha and her friends.
