Angela Cray Gets Real by Dara Carr is the first book in the NEW “Angela Cray” mystery series. Publisher: Marvelous Mayhem Books, January 2018

Unemployed ex-party girl Angela Cray is back living with her no-nonsense mother in Phoenix. After coming within air-kissing distance of a felony charge, Angela is determined to make something of her life. When a sympathetic neighbor offers her work, Angela jumps at the opportunity. She figures it won’t be hard to track down a missing fiancé last seen with two Lady Gaga lookalikes. After all, one of her superpowers is finding badly behaved men.

But the trail of the runaway groom has more twists than a bride’s updo. And when Angela uncovers secrets that people will kill to keep hidden, she has to decide the price she’s willing to pay for success.

Angela will need to call upon all her charm and cunning—and the deities of her ancient Samoan ancestors—to make sure this professional growth opportunity doesn’t kill her first.

In this fast-paced and non-stop action drama, we meet down-on-her-luck Angela who accept a job of finding a missing fiancé. It is in this pursuit that the action begins and what a fun roller coaster ride this was. The mystery was nicely done and kept me intrigued in all that was happening. The author does a great in setting this up with plenty of twists and turns that had me going this way and that. When I thought I had a handle on what was going on, the author changed direction all the to betterment of this multi-plot story. The narrative was visually descriptive giving me enough to grasp as I watched the situations that Angela found herself in, some precarious and some comical. This diverse cast of characters have their own idiosyncrasies and some had pivotal roles that enhanced the telling of this tale. This was a good read and I look forward to more adventures with Angela and her friends.
