Pleading the Fish by Bree Baker
Series Name: Seaside Café Mystery #7
Genre: Cozy

Dru’s very short musing
Being the final book in this delightfully charming series, the author did a great job in wrapping things up with a well-executed mystery with a few surprising twists that had me devouring everything as it appeared on the page. Everly once again gets involved and anything that could happens, happens which added a touch of suspense as I tried to figure out with Everly what was going on. When I thought I was close to the killer’s identity, the author pulled a red herring on me and I had to go in another direction, which enhanced how well this story was being told. This was a great send-off to this series.

Three Shots to the Wind by Sherry Harris
Series Name: Chloe Jackson Sea Glass Saloon Mystery #3
Genre: Cozy

Dru’s very short musing
I love this series which gets better with each book written. It was great meeting Chloe’s brothers. I hope we see more of her family. The author did a great job setting up the mystery that kept me in the game throughout. The pool of suspects was small, but the motives they had warranted them being on the list. There were a few strategically placed twists that would eventually reveal the killer’s identity. When I thought I had a handle on the person responsible, the author changed direction all to enhance the telling of this tale. I was glad to see the relationship between Rip and Chloe move forward. Always great seeing Vivi, Joaquin, and Michael.

Scot Mist by Catriona McPherson
Series Name: Last Ditch Mystery #4
Genre: Cozy

Dru’s very short musing
What a fun and enjoyable story filled with humorous outtakes that take place during a lockdown. The author is good at setting the stage for a well-executed drama that didn’t waver from beginning to end, keeping me immersed in all aspect in the telling of this tale. I like how the author pointed us in so many directions to keep me guessing on who is doing what to whom. With a diverse cast of characters, some whose quirkiness adds to the uniqueness of this story, all play pivotal roles in how well this story was being told. What kept me amused is Lexy and her banter with the various people she encountered. This was a brilliant whodunit and I look forward to more adventures with Lexy and her friends.
