A Grave Peril by Wendy Roberts is the third book in the “Bodies of Evidence” traditional mystery series. Publisher: Carina Press, coming January 21, 2019.
Sometimes at night, she can hear the dead calling.
Julie Hall’s job is to find bodies. For the sake of her sanity, she’s taking a much-needed break—but the dead don’t wait. With bodies piling up alongside her guilt, she knows she has to dive back in, despite pushback from her FBI boyfriend, Garrett Pierce. But Garrett is working a troubling case of his own and no longer seems like the man she fell in love with.
Despite his warnings—or maybe because of them—when Garrett goes missing, Julie has no choice but to use her skills to find where the cartel buries their victims. . . before he becomes part of the body count.
All I can say is “wow” as this was a fantastic book that I could not put down. The key players were present and accounted for and I enjoyed how the author chose to stage this intriguing tale of suspense where every emotion is evoked and the drama takes on its own story between the two main characters. The author knows how to tell a story where the pacing was the right pitch with regards to each scenario being pursued. I liked that this was a different take down where instead of Julie finding “dead bodies” her search was something different and I liked how she did it with a little help from her friends. What I liked best was how well this narrative was being told and watching it all play out with some surprising twists that enlightened my reading pleasure. I like this eclectic, yet quirky cast of characters and I can’t wait to read the next book in this terrific series.
