PI Madeline Maclin is hired by Bill, her ex-husband, to find Nadia, his missing nanny. While searching for meteor rocks in a local cave, Madeline and current husband, Jerry stumble on Nadia’s body. Bill scrambles to cover up his affair with the nanny, while Nadia’s friends are more interested in covering up a previous death in the cave than in finding the murderer. A whacky UFO hunter arrives looking for aliens, but seems more interested in Jerry’s con-man past. It’s up to Madeline to dig up the secrets that have been buried far too long and solve the case!

Dru’s Short Musing:
Madeline is back and this time her search is for a missing nanny, and you know where this is going to lead.

The author knows how to tell a well-written story with multiple subplots, a comfortable tone, engaging dialogue and visually descriptive narrative that put me in the middle of all the action from Madeline’s ex-husband’s request to circling around the small pool of suspects where the clues are hidden only to have Madeline expose them to single out the person who was doing what to whom. In opening that can of worms, secrets were uncovered that would eventually lead to the killer’s identity and the motive, one that fed into a past accident. As always, I enjoyed the appearances of Denisha and Austin and the other residents of Celosia, North Carolina. This was a terrific read in a delightfully appealing series.
