Find Me When I’m Lost by Cheryl A. Head is the fifth book in the “Charlie Mack Motown” private investigator mystery series. Publisher: Bywater Books, coming July 28, 2020.

When Charlie Mack is hired by her ex-husband’s new wife Pamela, things get awkward quickly. Her ex, Franklin, has been charged with his brother-in-law’s murder. Charlie and Pamela both believe he didn’t do it, but he’s gone into hiding for some reason neither of them understands. To the police, it adds up to easy guilt, but to Charlie, it indicates that Franklin has stumbled onto something that likely comes with life-threatening complications. Charlie wants proof the case doesn’t involve a double-cross, and when the Mack Investigations team throws all their assets at the case, Charlie’s girlfriend, Mandy begins to worry that Charlie’s all-out efforts to find Franklin might be driven by lingering romantic feelings. In the end, everyone involved must figure out which loyalties run deeper than love.

Dru’s Musing:
All I can say is “wow”. The author took this fast-paced and riveting drama up a notch with a tightly woven mystery that left nothing to chance. Eloquently written, this solidly wickedly plot kept me immersed in all that was happening from the initial phone call to tracking down the evidence needed and to the fallout when the case was spread wide-open. The author knows how to tell a story that had me on pins and needles as I didn’t know what to expect, but the suspenseful nature had me intrigued to whatever the outcome would be. The intensity in which this drama ran, blew everything out the water as the story reached a high pitch and when the pieces fell into place, it was anyone’s guess how this would all end. This is by far the best book in the series and I look forward to more exciting cases with Charlie and her cohorts.
