When Kate Mulligan inherits her great uncle’s fruit orchard, she quickly realizes that apples aren’t the only thing that can have rotten cores.

Dru’s Short Musing:
This debut series caters to what I enjoy in a new cozy whodunit. We have the amateur sleuth, the villain, the murder, the clues, and the local police.

Wrapped up in a solid plot with visually descriptive narrative, the author knows how to tell a story that had me immersed in all aspects from the introduction of the characters that have a role in this drama and snippets of clues peppered throughout to keep me busy solving the puzzle. When I thought I had a handle on the person responsible, that little twist that popped up led me to another suspect and I enjoyed watching this all play out, especially when the killer’s identity and motive was revealed. I love the pacing and the crisp writing that made it easy to follow along. Overall, a pleasant appealing debut which I look forward to spending more time with Kate and her friends.
