Murder Likes it Hot by Tracy Weber is the sixth book in the “Downward Dog” cozy mystery series. Publisher: Midnight Ink, coming January 8, 2019.

Yogini and amateur sleuth Kate Davidson will need more than Warrior Pose to solve a murder and help homeless teens

Newly married yoga instructor Kate Davidson feels stuck in low-energy limbo, despite her high-energy life. She’s trying to conceive a child, keep her studio afloat now that the ultra-cheap Some Like It Hot Yoga studio has opened across the street, and start a yoga program at a local resource center for homeless youth.

When a center employee is found dead, Kate sets aside her fertility and financial woes to delve into the world of teenage homelessness. While digging for clues with her German shepherd Bella, Kate discovers that family can be formed by bonds stronger than shared DNA, and she must defend it at all costs.

There were several things going on this intriguing tale that had some focus on a variety of social issues. In the midst of all this, Kate finds herself involved in yet another murder mystery that catered to what I like best in a whodunit and that is a solid plot, lovable characters and a great mystery.

Tracy knows how to tell a well-developed story that encompasses so much that it leaves you breathless when all is said and done. With visually descriptive narrative and engaging dialogue, I was completely in tuned to the all that was happening, with the suspects and with clues that pointed in the direction it needed to go. When I thought I had a handle on who was behind the murder, the author changed direction which enhanced how well this drama was being told. This was an enjoyable read that was grippingly emotional with an outcome that put a smile on my face. I can’t wait to read the next chapter in Kate and her friend’s lives.
