Saddled with Murder by Eileen Brady is the first book in the NEW “Dr. Kate Vet” cozy mystery series, digital edition coming October 6, 2020.

Veterinarian and amateur sleuth Kate Turner has her hands full trying to juggle two boyfriends, a thriving practice, and a criminal investigation

It’s the Christmas season and veterinarian Kate Turner is not feeling very jolly. She’s overworked, unappreciated, and dealing with two dissatisfied clients. Throw in a very complicated personal life and Kate’s definitely got a case of the holiday blues.

To make matters worse, Kate’s ex-boyfriend, Jeremy, is mugged and robbed after they have a heated argument in the hospital parking lot. Then, two of her dissatisfied clients turn up dead (which really gets Kate’s tinsel in a tangle). All of these events seem like coincidences, but they add up to something much more venomous.

Dru’s Musing:
In this fast-paced, non-stop action and well-written drama, I could not put this book down, quickly becoming a page-turner as I had to know how this was all going to end.

The author did a great job in staging this tightly woven whodunit with the perfect blend of suspects and tantalizing clues that kept me in the throes of what was going on. With giving us a glimpse of Kate’s day-to-day activities as well as her role in seeking out clues added to getting to know the person that is Kate. I liked how the story was being told with narrative that was visually descriptive, engaging dialogue that helped to guide the path with the various characters and their part in this whodunit. There was so much going on, both professionally and personally, that aided in how well the author was leading the tale with distractions and directional changes that enhanced the level of my reading entertainment. Overall, this was a terrific first start to a series that I hope is here to stay for a while.

FTC Full Disclosure – I received a digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley.
