Angie Turner’s restaurant, The County Seat, is conveniently located near a first-class farmers market—so her menu is full of fresh ingredients. But a visiting culinary professor has just had a taste of something very unhealthy . . .

Angie first meets Daniel Monet at a local mission, where she and her chef-in-training, Hope, are serving barbeque chicken poutine to the homeless. Monet is one of Hope’s teachers—but Angie’s boyfriend knows him from his youthful days in England. But soon, the bon vivant is no longer vivant. When Monet is found dead, with Hope’s prints on the wine glass next to him, it will be Angie who has to sauce out the real killer . . .

This was a fun visit to River Vista, Idaho. Angie is once again pulled into her own murder investigation when her protégé was the last known person to see the murder victim, a man from Ian’s past. Who is this chef? Why can’t Angie find anything about his past? This delightfully charming whodunit will tell all.

I like the pacing of this light-hearted drama that set the tone of how this tale was going to play. The author knows to cook a story to keep me engaged in all facets from the appearance of Angie and her staff of the Country Seat to the victim’s appearance to Ian’s perplex to Hope actions to Felicia’s personal life and to lovable Estebe. Despite a small suspect pool, it was how the author gave us enough to keep me guessing and it was that one aha moment that I had a handled on the killer’s identity and it was fun watching it all play out. Boasting a lovable cast of characters that includes Dom, Mable and Precious and one of the best scenes of the book was the aftermath of the dinner with Ian’s relatives.
