The heat rises when firefighters discover the body of her best friend Tess Olmos’s athletic husband—whose untimely death was anything but accidental. And as Tess agonizes over the whereabouts of her spouse’s drop-dead gorgeous running mate, she becomes the prime suspect in what’s shaping up to become a double murder case. Determined to set the record straight, Maggie sorts through clues in an investigation more dangerous than the flames approaching her home. But when her own loved ones are threatened, can she catch the meticulous killer before everything falls apart?

I really enjoy this series, especially the organizing tips at the beginning of each chapter. Maggie is once again involved in a murder investigation when her best friend is accused of murder. Someone is playing a game they will not win with Maggie on the case. Through various trails, Maggie discovers a bevy of people who could be responsible, and it’s those clues she picks up here and there with a few surprises thrown in that leads to the one person left standing. . .the killer.

The author did a great job in presenting a well-written drama that immediately grabbed my attention. The pacing and comfortable tone was on par with how well this story was being told. The descriptive narrative was so engaging, I envisioned a film with every interaction between the various cast members who all played pivotal roles that enhanced the telling of this tale. Maggie is a force to be reckoned and I enjoy watching her do what she does best. This was another great read in this terrific series and look forward to more adventures with Maggie and her friends.
