From author Lena Gregory comes a delicious new series that will warm your heart and leave you guessing until the very end…
When twenty-five-year-old Danika Delaney, black sheep of the Delaney clan, returns home to Long Island to take over Jimmie’s, her eccentric uncle’s old fashioned malt shop on eastern Long Island, she’s not exactly thrilled. But things start to look up when her uncle tells her she can do whatever she’d like with the shop, and it seems she might realize her dream of a small trendy café. That is, until she discovers the body of her ex-boyfriend’s estranged wife in a melted puddle of rocky road in the malt shop basement. With her two sidekicks, her sister and a good childhood friend, in tow, Dani searches for–or stumbles upon—one clue after another. But as she narrows down the suspect list, she realizes if she’s not careful she may end up in a puddle of her own…
Dru’s Short Musing:
Upon her return home, Dani finds herself involved in a murder investigation.
This was a fast-paced and well-written drama that I could not put down. The tone was comfortable making it easy to follow along with what the author intended. The mystery was nicely executed with a nice pool of suspects, clues that popped up on the scenes and Dani trying to figure it out with help from her BFF. With visually descriptive narrative, the author made the story come alive with engaging dialogue and I wanted to be there with Dani as she sought out clues. Despite the murder and looking for the killer, there were a few humorous moments that enhanced my reading pleasure. Boasting a likeable cast of characters, and a small-town atmosphere, this was a delightfully entertaining debut and I look forward to more adventures with Dani and her friends.
This sounds charming. My TBR pile keeps growing.
🙂 What a nice problem to have!
I’m interested in reading this series. Then I saw that it probably wont be in any public library here in Brooklyn or Queens. I’ll have to wait till I have a few extra $$$ to buy a copy.
Did you recommend the book from the library? I’ve recommended plenty of books and the library did purchase them.
Only the queens library will order for me so I try not to abuse the privilege.
