Libraries are full of books . . . and deadly secrets.
When Thea Olson agreed to volunteer at her local library, she anticipated shelving books, not stumbling across a dead body.
Concerned her brother, the acting chief of police, is in over his head, Thea is determined to find out whodunit. She investigates the murder with the assistance of her grandmother and the handsome new library director.
Just when the trio of amateur sleuths hit a dead-end, a snarky chameleon appears in the library with cryptic clues for Thea. At first, she thinks she’s hallucinating. But once Thea accepts the fact that the obnoxious reptile is real, she realizes he might just help her crack the case.
Can Thea discover who the murderer is before someone else is taken out of circulation?
This is the first in a new library series set in the fictional town of Why, North Dakota. If you like quirky characters, chameleons, way too much coffee, and all things bookish, you’ll love Murder at the Library.
Dru’s Short Musing:
We are introduced to Thea who discovers more than a body when investigating a recent murder.
This was a fun book with a lighthearted feel. The mystery was well-defined by the author who led us through the paces of the murder and its investigation. Thea is smart and with help from new friend Hudson, her grandmother, her policeman brother, and an unexpected and unusual source, she seeks out clues to why someone wanted the ex-president of the library board dead. The more she digs, the more she learns about the residents of Why, ND and for some a possible motive in committing the crime. With visually descriptive narrative and engaging dialogue, the author captures the essence of this eclectic cast of characters in the telling of this delightfully entertaining debut series. I’m looking forward to more adventures with Thea and her friends.
FTC Full Disclosure – I received a digital ARC of this book from the author.
I preordered this because it was set in North Dakota. After reading the comments above, I am excited to dig into it. I have worked/volunteered at two different libraries in North Dakota, so am anxious to read about this quirky place.
Thanks for taking the time to read and review Murder at the Library! So glad you enjoyed it 🙂
