Dru’s Short Musing:
When the comedian who performed at his lounge is found dead the next day, Adrian investigates to find the person responsible.
There is no sophomore slump in this well-written and fast-paced murder mystery with a comfortable tone making it easy to keep abreast of the non-stop action taking place throughout this book. The author did a great job in staging this with an eclectic cast of characters where a few had pivotal roles that kept the narrative exciting with its witty repartee and all-around good feel. The setup for the murder was there in the making and with a few strategically placed clues, it all came together and we learned who had the most to gain by the victim’s demise. Overall, this was an excellent read and I can’t wait to see where we go next with Reece and his friends.

Book Synopsis:
When a comedy show takes a deadly turn, there’s nothing funny about it…
As a humid August heat wave descends upon the cozy town of Hope Mills, Pennsylvania, mixologist Reece Parker hosts the first-ever Comedy and Cocktails event in Subplot, his bookish speakeasy.
The evening’s talent, comedian Meghan Spencer, shakes up controversy when she takes a joke too far during her crowd work segment. But when she’s found floating in the nearby Delaware River the next morning, it’s no laughing matter.
With his best friend stirred up in the investigation, Reece takes a shot at solving Meghan’s murder. But as he sniffs out clues on his quest for justice, will he end up on the rocks himself?
