When Emmy Cooper’s life in Chicago is turned upside down, the young interior designer retreats to her family’s lake cottage resort in the beautiful Wisconsin Northwoods for a much-needed break. Hoping to clear her mind and gain a fresh perspective, she looks forward to enjoying the slower pace and the crisp, clean pine air at her beloved Cooper’s Cove Resort with her family, dogs, and her best friend, Whitney.

Dru’s Short Musing:
When a heated discussion leads to murder, Emmy will do everything in her power to clear her dad’s name and save their family business.

This was a well-written and fast-paced drama that I could not put down, quickly becoming a page-turner. With multiple subplots, this whodunit kept me immersed in all aspects from the introduction of Emmy Cooper, her family, her friends, and to the victim and their associates. I liked how the mystery was staged, giving us clues into who, what, when, where, why, and how. The tone was very comfortable and with engaging dialogue and a small-town atmosphere, the visually descriptive narrative came alive, and I felt like I was part of the action rooting for Emmy and her friends. There were a few twists and turns that sent me in a different direction as to the killer, all to enhance my reading enjoyment. This was a fun book, and I can’t wait for the next book in this delightfully entertaining new series that is a welcome addition to the cozy genre.
