Dru’s Short Musing:
From the first page I was immediately pulled in and I could not put this book down, until all was said and done.
In this well-written drama, Jackson Davis is the lead detective on the case when a body is found and having recognized the deceased from an earlier situation, it soon becomes apparent that the evidence points to murder. Dealing with a new partner and his own person demons, Jackson follows protocol to sift through the clues both verbally and physically to determine how and why she died. The pool of suspects is small, but it is the doggedness and pursuit of answers that propels this story which kept me immersed in all that was happening. What I liked best was seeing the flaws and vulnerability of Jackson and yet he persevered. There were a few red herrings that aided in how well this story was being told. The narrative was visually descriptive as I imagined all that I read and watched it all play out with engaging dialogue and the connectivity of the multiple plots enhanced my reading pleasure. Overall, this was a grippingly riveting read, and I can’t wait to read more stories about Jackson and his team.
