This was a nicely executed drama that I could not put down, quickly becoming a page-turner. The author did a great job in staging this mystery with a bountiful cast of characters, a small pool of suspects, and a few red herrings that teased how this story is going to proceed. Between the nefarious doings among the suspects and the family dynamics of Taylor blended into a wickedly solid plotline that kept me in suspense and intrigue as to how this puzzling case will be solved. I liked the diamond facets that were interspersed in the story. The closer Taylor got to her quarry, the more dangerous the situation became, but she had unexpected help which clarified the who, what, where and the why. The Fire Diamond is a delightfully engaging read in this debut series and a welcome addition to the cozy genre.
