When It’s Time For Leaving by Ang Pompano is a private investigator mystery, published by Encircle Publications, LLC, coming October 1, 2019.
When his girlfriend dumps him and a dealer rams him off a bridge, Al DeSantis quits the New Haven Police Department. As he plans to head for LA, he learns his father who abandoned him as a kid has deeded him the Blue Palmetto Detective Agency in Georgia.
Now fearing bridges, Al drives to Savannah intending to sell fast and go west, but before he can, he discovers a strong and attractive female detective named Maxine, a dead body on the dock—and his father, alive, suffering from Alzheimer’s, and determined to help his “new partner Al” solve the crime.
I really love this fast-paced drama that quickly became a page-turner as I could not put this book down. This mystery was executed in a manner to keep me both intrigued and in suspense as I became immersed in all that was happening in and around Ava Island.
The author did a great job in telling this story with visually descriptive narrative, engaging dialogue, some very comical, and an eclectic cast of characters, some of whom had pivotal roles that set the stage in how well this drama was being told. With a lot of little twists and turns and clue gathering, these exploits propelled this juggernaut of non-stop action into an exciting story that catered to my reading entertainment. I enjoyed the likes of both Al senior and junior, Max and Mrs. Greenleaf and I hope there are more adventures with them.

FTC Full Disclosure – I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from the publisher.
This sounds interesting. I’ll check it out. Thanks, Dru!
Thank you Cheryl. I hope you have as much fun reading the book as I did writing it.
I very excited to read Ang’s latest release. I believe it comes out next month. I have read most or all of his stories no matter how long or short they are.
His characters come to life. One of his latest books The Bucket List is still one of my favorites. I am looking forward to meeting Ang Pompano in mid October for his book signing on this intriguing story!!! I am betting it surpasses The Bucket List. Thank You Ang for all your great stories I have enjoyed 🙂
Thanks for being such a loyal reader of my short stories, Julie. I hope you enjoy the novel as well. I’m looking forward to seeing you at the book signing.
Thank you, Dru! I’m so glad that you liked Al and his friends. I had so much fun writing them.
Can’t wait to read this! Waiting for Crime Bake so I can get a signed copy.
Thanks, Ruth. Annette and I are both looking forward to seeing you at Crime Bake.
I, too, received an ARC of this book. I opened the package and then could barely wait for “When it was Time for Reading”
that evening.
I made myself stop reading the first night and the second night, I stayed up much too late to finish the book. I was engrossed from the very first page.
I hope this is the first in a wonderfully long series featuring Al, et al.
(I related to Al and his issues with bridges. I don’t know why, but I tend to get a little anxious crossing a bridge.)
I have been encouraging all of my reading friends to pick up this book when it’s released.
Rory, I gave Al a fear of bridges because I wanted to make him real. Everyone has something they don’t like. Remember Indiana Jones and the snakes? I’m glad the book kept your interest. And I’m especially glad that you didn’t read it while driving over a bridge. 🙂
I love this writer too, so much so, that I married him! I maybe biased here, he is a terrific writer, I have always known this, and I am so happy that other people are discovering this too. When It’s Time For Leaving, is a terrific mystery, with many twists and turns. And the ending will take many by surprise. The really fun thing for me is discovering many things in our personal lives have made their way into this novel. Hint : for instance some of Big Al’s mementos, that give Al Jr. a glimpse into his father’s personality, are really Ang’s. I hope many people will enjoy reading this book, as much as I did!
Cute
Aww, see how lucky I am to have such great support? And I’ll admit that a lot of Big Al’s mementos are on my shelf, but I’m not telling what else in the book is truth or fiction!
Have read and loved so many of Ang Pompano’s stories. I have ordered a copy, and I anxiously await the release date. Go, go, go calendar and Amazon shipping. 👍
Hey, thanks for that, Joe. And now that you’ve discovered Dru’s Book Musings, I hope you stop by often.
Hi Ang, I will be on the lookout for more from Dru. Thanks Joe
When It’s Time for Leaving sounds like a great read. Thanks for featuring it in your Musing, Dru Ann ~
Thank you for the kind words, Celia!
Like all good mysteries, and this is a very good mystery, you will wish the characters will live on in future books by Ang Pompano.
Thanks, Joanne!
The title of this book reminds me of one of my favorite songs. I’m looking forward to seeing if it ties in to this novel.
Another Allman Brothers fan! I’m not telling, Rose. 🙂
