Check out some of the new titles releasing during the week of October 11 – 17, 2020. Reading is an adventure and I hope a few of these books take you to an exciting place. Enjoy!

The Gift of the Magpie by Donna Andrews (Cozy)
Meg’s running Caerphilly’s Helping Hands for the Holidays project, in which neighbors help each other with things they can’t do and can’t afford to have done. Her hopes for a relatively peaceful (if busy) Christmas vanish when someone murders Harvey the Hoarder, whose house the Helping Hands were decluttering. Was there any truth to the rumor that he had something valuable hidden beneath all his junk?
Murder is Forever by Rob Bates (Cozy)
Max Rosen always said the diamond business isn’t about sorting the gems, it’s about sorting the people. His daughter Mimi is about to learn that some people, like some diamonds, can be seriously flawed. After Mimi’s diamond-dealer cousin Yosef is murdered–seemingly for his $4 million pink diamond–Mimi finds herself in the middle of a massive conspiracy, where she doesn’t know who to trust, or what to believe.
Steal Away by V.M. Burns (Traditional)
When search and rescue worker, Marti Alexander, is sent on a job and discovers the body of her ex-husband, all clues point to her as the murderer. However, there’s more to this murder than meets the eye. Can Detective RJ Franklin see beyond the obvious to catch a killer? When search and rescue worker, Marti Alexander, is sent on a job and discovers the body of her ex-husband, all clues point to her as the murderer.
A Garland of Bones by Carolyn Haines (Cozy)
Sarah Booth has traded in hosting this Christmas season for a road trip with her besties. Each little Delta town has a special Christmas activity, and Sarah Booth’s BFF and detective partner, Tinkie, has arranged to rent a limo for the gang and drive to Columbus, MS, to stay in a B&B. Visions of Christmas shopping, parade floats, and romantic rendezvous are already dancing in their heads.
The Better of the Bad by J.J. Hensley (Thriller)
It’s 9:10 PM in the Chatham County Communications Center. The dispatchers stare at each other, afraid to move, afraid to breathe. One minute to go. Will tonight be the night? The clock on the wall changes. 9:11. A phone rings. The screens indicate the 9-1-1 call is coming from a blocked number. The dispatchers hope and pray it’s a coincidental call for service. Perhaps a car break-in or a bar fight. With all eyes on her, one dispatcher presses a button, puts the call on speaker for everyone to hear.
Festival of the Vine by JB Michaels (Cozy)
The Festival of the Vine would be divine if it weren’t for the murderous villain threatening to cross the line!
A Resolution at Midnight by Shelley Noble (Historical)
Roasted chestnuts from vendor’s carts, fresh cut spruce trees lining the sidewalks, extravagant gifts, opulent dinners, carols at St Patrick’s Cathedral, a warm meal and a few minutes shelter from the cold at one of the charitable food lines. It’s Christmas in Gilded Age Manhattan.
Flo and Maude Christmas Capers by Sarah Osborne (Cozy)
The Old Dames Protection Agency solves murders before they happen. Curmudgeon Flo and gentle Maude, octogenarians and founding members of the organization, are on the road from Boston to LA, Atlanta to Cape Cod, ready to save the innocent (and not so innocent) from harm. Their side-kick, young Kate, does the heavy lifting and carries a gun.
Silent Bite by David Rosenfelt (Traditional)
Lawyer Andy Carpenter can finally take a breath; he’s back on dry land after a family Caribbean cruise forced on him by his wife, Laurie, to get into the Christmas spirit. Of course the family’s first stop is to the Tara Foundation, the dog rescue organization that has always been Andy’s true passion.
What fun! I’ll have to add some of these to my list.
There are several good books here. I like V.M. Burns writing is a new series?
Thanks for the list. Always in the mood to read a new book by VM Burns.
