I am Randal Wilson, and I am running for election to be the next mayor of my hometown, Duck, North Carolina. You might know me as Mad Dog from my years as a stock car driver. I was kind of famous.
Now Duck is the finest town anyone could hope to live in. We are situated right between the Albemarle Sound and the Atlantic Ocean – right in the sweet spot. Our ancestors knew this was the perfect place to live. That’s why they built their houses here and held on tight so as not to let anyone steal their heritage.
That’s what I’m doing by challenging Mayor Dae O’Donnell for her seat at the town council table. I have served this town for many years – years before Dae was even born! You all know me. You know I have always wanted what is right and best for Duck. That’s why I became a town councilman.
But since Dae became mayor, things haven’t been right. She’s a sweet little lady, don’t get me wrong, but she’s always nosing around places she doesn’t belong. She holes up in her shop, Missing Pieces, and ‘finds’ things. Now what kind of career is that for a mayor to have?
I admit she has the ‘gift’. She’s probably found things from watches to shoes for everyone in Duck. But is that what we want in the future?
I am a solid, dependable citizen of Duck with no flights of fancy. I have been married for 40 years to the same woman. My opponent is still ‘dating’ that ex-FBI agent over at The Blue Whale. She might never settle down like the rest of us.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Dae talking to herself as she’s walking down the street. She makes friends with other crazy people, like that woman who talks to the spirits at the shop next door to hers. Now she has a weird looking cat. What’s next?
So vote for me. Forget about Dae’s grandfather being the former sheriff of Dare County. Forget about the new town hall that’s being built – she didn’t have anything to do with that anyway. Remember me when you go into the voting booth. A vote for Mad Dog is a vote for sensible government!
The race for mayor continues, and a decision will be made, in A Finder’s Fee, published October 1st.
Thanks to Penguin, I have one (1) copy of “A Finder’s Fee” to give away. Leave a comment to be included in the giveaway. Contest ends October 10th; US entries only per publisher’s request.

I adore this series. Put my name in please
I have read one of the books in this series and loved it.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Fun series and a great interview, Dru Ann.
I think Mad Dog is just mad that Dae gets involved in things that he has no interest in, like dealing out justice to murderers.. So what if she’s hands on about it. I love the series and would love to add this one to my collection.
Thanks for introducing me to this series! I’d love to win a copy of this book!
Mad Dog for mayor? Sounds like our town! I must read.

Mad Dog sounds like a good person NOT to vote for.
I would LOVE to win this–I used to vacation in Duck nd some of my very favorite memories are still there. Can’t wait to read it.
I love this series and if I could vote in Duck it would be for Dae, and by the way do you think she could find my lost baby ring for me?
I haven’t even heard of this series but it really sounds good. Thank you for the chance.
This is a new series for me. I love it.
This series certainly does sound like something that people like me who grew up in a small town will just love to read. I would very much like the chance to be entered into this contest and to win the book. What a fun writing team this couple makes. Thank you for including me in this giveaway.
I’d love to win!
Thanks Joyce and Randal for stopping by. Looking forward to seeing who won the election.
Doggone, I’m late again. These next day things don’t always work when you get the contest alert the day before and you’ve already gone to bed and then go off to apple country the day of. Oh, well. Next time. judydee22002@yahoo dot com
