Hi, my name’s Scarlet but everyone just calls me Red. I live in my camper van named Bubbles. The van was left to me by my grandmother and I miss her terribly. Especially because I have a lot of questions about things happening in my life right now. Like, why do I have premonitions whenever I’m around fire and how can I make them stop? These visions always put me right in the middle of a murder.

At the moment, I’m stuck in the tiny Washington State town of Hope Harbor. I took a job at the local dollar store just to make a few bucks for van repairs. Before I could move on to the next town, I find my coworker, Murray, shot to death. Now the sheriff won’t let me leave town until they find out who killed Murray. Unfortunately, it feels like everyone here already has me convicted.

The only good thing to come out of my visit to Hope Harbor is a kitten named Muffin who is my new side-kick. Muffin is great company when all the locals seem to be pointing their fingers at me, the new girl in town. I’m starting to hate everyone here. Everyone, that is, except Noah who runs the local hardware store. He is a sweet guy who seems determined to light a flame in my heart. But I have enough craziness surrounding me when it comes to fire.

For now, I need to focus on finding who the killer is. I spend my days using my fire seeing skills to try and find clues about who killed Murray and clear my name. When my estranged sister, Brandy, shows up it feels like the last thing I need. As an addict, trouble tends to follow her wherever she goes but she claims she’s here to help. How can I begin to trust her when all she’s ever done is let me down? But she seems to know a lot about our family history and my psychic abilities. When someone shoots up Bubbles and tries to kill me it’s Brandy who whisks me away to a safehouse and gives me tips on how to use my talent to save myself.

Every waking moment I’m focused on looking into blazes to find answers. I just hope I can find the killer before he finds me.

Red Hooper’s never been what you’d call lucky, but searching for coffee and finding a dead body instead takes things to a whole other level. Even worse, she and her camper van, Bubbles, just rolled into town, and being the new girl makes her suspect number one.

Red never lingers in one place for long—she’s got secrets better left undiscovered—and this time she’s definitely overstayed her welcome. Caught in the crosshairs of a police investigation and creeping to the top of the real murderer’s to-do list, Red will have to plant some roots if she’s going to survive.

Easier said than done. It seems like everyone in town has made up their mind about Red…except the mysterious Noah Adams. The gruff townie might be the key to proving her innocence—if he doesn’t bring even more trouble her way. Together they unravel the mystery surrounding the murder, but Red will be forced to embrace her psychic gifts if she’s going to clear her name before the real murderer snuffs her out.
