Sadie Coleman first appeared in Wine and Punishment and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Sadie.

What is your name?
Sadie Elizabeth Coleman.

How old are you?
31.

What is your profession?
I own and operate a literary pub, the Inkwell.

Do you have a significant other?
No. After my last relationship fell apart, I decided I needed some time away from dating. My friend Shontelle thinks there are sparks of attraction flying between me and my neighbor, Grayson Blake, but I’m not so sure.

Any children?
No.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
Two. I have an older brother, Michael, and a younger brother, Taylor.

Do your parents live near you?
No. My mom lives in Knoxville and my dad passed away a few years ago.

Who is your best friend?
Shontelle Williams. She owns a gift shop here in town.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
I have a white-haired, blue-eyed cat named Wimsey.

What town do you live in?
Shady Creek, Vermont.

House or building complex? Own or Rent?
I live in a cozy apartment above my literary pub, which I own. The pub and my apartment are housed in a renovated grist mill.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
My favorite spot in the building is not in my apartment. It’s a room I’ve named the Christie Room. It’s used as overflow for the pub on busy nights, and it’s where the pub’s book clubs hold their meetings.

Favorite meal? Favorite dessert?
I love a nice platter of nachos with sides of salsa and guacamole. For dessert, anything chocolate.

Favorite hobby?
Reading!

Favorite color?
Green.

Favorite author?
I have so many, but if I have to pick just one, Agatha Christie.

Favorite vacation spot?
My family used to have a cottage on a lake in my dad’s home state of Minnesota. I loved spending time there and I miss those trips.

Favorite sports team?
I watch more figure skating than team sports, but I’m a fan of the Lady Vols (basketball). Go Big Orange!

Movies or Broadway?
Movies.

Are you a morning or a night person?
Night, which is a good thing, since I often work until 10pm or later.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
Amateur.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
I recently joined forces with Grayson Blake, owner of the local craft brewery. However, a lot of the time I work on my own or with the help of various friends.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
My days usually start with my cat, Wimsey, prodding me awake and demanding that I get up to feed him breakfast. Once he’s fed and satisfied, I take care of any deliveries at the pub and then I might pop by the local coffee shop or stop in at my aunt’s salon to say hello. My workday starts at noon, when the Inkwell opens, and doesn’t end until I’ve closed and cleaned up the pub. Of course, when there’s a mystery to be solved, I also make time in my day for sleuthing.

You can read more about Sadie in An Ale of Two Cities , the second book in the “Literary Pub” cozy mystery series, coming November 26, 2019.

In this intoxicating mystery by USA Today bestselling author Sarah Fox, a winter carnival becomes a recipe for disaster when a Shady Creek celebrity gets iced.

The Winter Carnival always brings holiday cheer, Christmas joy—and tourists with cash—to picturesque Shady Creek, Vermont. At the center of the glittering decorations and twinkling lights is booklover and pub owner Sadie Coleman, creating original cocktails, hosting a literary trivia evening, and cheering on her loyal employee Melanie “Mel” Costas as she competes in the ice carving competition.

But holiday cheer can’t compete with former resident and renowned chef Freddy Mancini, who arrives with his nose in the air, showing off his ice-sculpting skills like a modern-day Michelangelo. During the artists’ break in the night-long contest, Mel’s tools disappear . . . and Freddy is found dead with her missing pick in his chest.

Although the police turn their attention to Mel, it seems everyone in town had a grudge against Freddy, including his assistant, his mentor, his former flame, and even his half-brother. Faster than she can fling a Huckleberry Gin, Sadie finds herself racing to make sure the police don’t arrest the wrong suspect—all while sharing a flirtation with local brewery owner Grayson Blake. Their chemistry leads to a heated rivalry at the hockey rink—and to the hot pursuit of a killer.
