Hi, I’m Sadie Moose.
And this has been the longest winter of my life.
Now, I live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and we’re known for our long winters. They start in October, kids incorporating snow boots into their Halloween costumes as naturally as they plan face paint. We get false spring March, followed by wintry mix April, and then, always, surprise second winter May. You’d think it wouldn’t be a surprise since it happened to us every year, and yet. . .
But I grew up here. I’m used to the snow, to the gray, to the ice, to the cold. That’s not what made this one so long.
It started in October, when I found the body of my lifelong rival, Sloan Brackenridge, behind my house. Killed by a weapon with my name on it. You can imagine that was a little tricky to explain. The whole thing was complicated by my childhood crush and neighbor, Merritt West, showing up at the same time. We got through it, together, and found the real killer, but he had to leave shortly after. Cue sad Sadie.
Things were looking up after I reconnected with my ex-boyfriend, Jake Moreno, at my bakery’s holiday outing. We fell back into a comfortable, easy, relationship. . .and then we found one of his neighbors dead in a hot springs pool in January. I hadn’t mean to get involved in the investigation that time, but one thing led to another, and I was right in the middle again, breaking apart the killer and his next victim during a blizzard. That all turned out okay, and Jake and I were cruising right along until Valentine’s Day, when somebody from his past showed up and took all his attention.
Okay, sure, it was a daughter he never he knew he had, and I get that, I do. But did he have to have her and his ex-girlfriend move in with him?
Anyway.
Between my man trouble, the investigations, my best friend’s first baby on the way, my business partners planning their wedding, and my ever-expanding Moose’s Bakery empire—one flagship location just off the town square in Jackson Hole and two, soon three coffee kiosks—I’m exhausted. And this wintry mix of snow and rain isn’t helping my mood any.
But there’s hope on the horizon. There’s only one more stop between me and a sun-drenched, all-inclusive, boozy beach vacation, the escape I need right now. I’m going to drop off a large order of baked goods and desserts at this chalet retreat, and then head to the airport.
While I’m there, I’m going to visit with my college friend, Amy. She’s a sales representative for Glamarosa Clothing, a multi-level marketing company that’s been all over the news lately. Their high-profile New Jersey founders, Glenn, Amalia, and Rosalie Valentine, are publicly feuding. There’s questions about clothing quality and their business practices. Amy’s smile has been a little strained on her live sales lately, and I’m worried about her. It will be good to visit.
But not for long. Because I’m headed out of here. There’s no way I’m getting stuck on this mountain, in this chalet full of wildly but uniformly dressed sales reps who keep making cutting remarks at one another. Not even for the sexy celebrity chef I run into in the kitchen. Or the man in charge of the documentary crew following the Valentines around, who I know by a name different than what he’s using. Or for the tension that cuts through the gathering, for the whispers and hissed arguments in the hallways. Or for the retailer that’s found dead in her room, strangled by a pair of Amy’s leggings.
None of this is my intrigue.
I’m getting out.
I’m going on vacation.
I’m not getting involved in another investigation.
Aren’t I?
Boss Babe Murder, Jackson Hole Moose’s Bakery Not So Cozy Mystery #3

Release: April 2022

Hey girl. . .this opportunity could be murder. . .
Boss Babe Murder is a steamy, snowy, not-so-cozy mystery, with an open door scene and explicit language. This is the third book in the Jackson Hole Moose’s Bakery Cozy Mystery Series. The books stand alone, but are better when read in order. While there are romantic elements, there isn’t an HEA in this book. . .though there will be eventually over the course of the series.
