Sam Alderich is a friend of the sleuth in the “Britton Bay” mysteries. One of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions. So, so let’s get to know Sam.
What is your full name?
Samuel Robert Alderich
How old are you?
31
What is your profession?
I own an auto repair shop.
Do you have a significant other?
I do. Very significant.
What is their name and profession?
Her name is Molly Owens. She’s the editor of our local newspaper.
Do you have any children?
No yet.
Do you have any siblings?
No.
Are your parents nearby?
My mother is very close by. We live on her property actually. My father died several years ago.
Who is your best friend?
Other than Molly? Chris Beatty.
Do you have any pets?
We do. An adorable pup named Tigger.
What town do you live in?
Britton Bay.
Would you say you live in a small town or a big city?
It’s a small town on the coast of Oregon.
Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
We rent the cottage behind my mother’s bed and breakfast.
What is your favorite spot in your home?
Anywhere Molly is but probably our back deck.
Favorite meal and dessert?
Fried chicken with corn bread. Dessert is a tough choice but probably lemon cake from Morning Muffins.
Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy hiking, working on cars, anything in the water, watching movies.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Wow. I can’t remember the last time I went on vacation. I’d love to go to Hawaii.
What music do you listen to?
Classic rock mostly
Do you have a favorite book?
A favorite? I really enjoy a good mystery.
What is your idea of a really fun time?
Good food with friends, some music, maybe a campfire. And Molly of course.
If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
Wow. Uh. . .** Just a Small Town Guy? **
Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Neither actually. Not intentionally, anyway. But as many of you know, my girlfriend has a very curios nature so it’s easier to embrace her need to solve puzzles than wonder if she’s okay.
In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
We get up early, walk Tigger at the beach, usually stop by Morning Muffins for breakfast and then we each head off to our own jobs. Sometimes we meet for lunch, other times we meet back at home, have dinner, take another walk. We’re quite boring really and I’m okay with that. Because when Molly gets caught up in something, there’s no time for being bored. So I like to appreciate our down time together.
Deadly Drama is the fourth book in the “Britton Bay” cozy mystery series, released August 4, 2020.
Newspaper editor and amateur sleuth Molly Owens takes center stage when it’s curtains for a theater director . . .
Living in the beautiful coastal town of Britton Bay, Oregon, seems like the perfect fit for Molly. She enjoys her work as editor-in-chief of the Britton Bay Bulletin, loves her boyfriend Sam, and feels at home in the adorable cottage in the back of his mother’s bed and breakfast.
This spring Britton Bay is staging its first-ever community theater production. The show—featuring local residents—is the talk of the town, but tongues are really wagging over the director. It turns out former soap opera actress Magnolia Sweet is anything but; nothing’s worse than a has-been on a power trip, and steely Magnolia routinely chews out her amateur cast.
Still, it’s a shock to all when she’s found murdered in the theater. Now it’s open call for suspects, as Molly steps in to shine a spotlight on a killer waiting in the wings. But will this be her final act?
