Hi, Samantha Davies here. My Southern Belle cousin, Candie Parker, and I live in a small town, Wings Falls, in upstate New York. We’re hookers. Now don’t go rolling your eyeballs into your cranium, we are rug hookers. Even though it is March, and today is cold and snowy outside we were excited to join our fellow hookers, the Loopy Ladies, at our friend Lucy Foster’s first annual hook-in. She was holding it in the banquet hall of the Wings Falls Fire Company. Lucy, along with her husband Ralph, own The Ewe and Me Woolery. Candie and I were looking forward to eating a lot of good food, hearing the latest gossip and buying lots of wool for our rug hooking projects.

But what should have been an afternoon of fun with my friends has turned into a deadly disaster. Instead, a trip to the ladies room had me stumbling upon a fellow hooker in distress. Unfortunately, she died before I could dial 9-1-1 for help. The dead woman, Hilda Pratt, wasn’t exactly loved by all—least of all my dear friend Lucy. You see Hilda has been copying Lucy’s patterns and selling them as her own on the internet. This might not be a big deal to some, but Lucy’s patterns are a big part of her business and Hilda’s pirating of these designs was definitely hurting Lucy’s bottom line.

My new boyfriend, Hank Johnson, a detective on the Wings Falls Police force, responded to my emergency call and isn’t too pleased that I’m involved in a suspicious death. You see that is how we met earlier this year—me with another dead body. By the time Hilda is wheeled out of the banquet hall, rumors have started to circulate that Hilda may have not passed away from natural causes.

Some of Hilda’s friend are pointing their fingers at Lucy. I know Hank wouldn’t be happy if I involved myself and Candie in trying to help out our friend and solve this murder, but I won’t abandon Lucy if she asks for my help. I can’t believe that one of my dear friends might be a murderer. Could someone else in my tight knot circle of rug hooking friends have done Hilda in?

Samantha Davies and her Southern Belle cousin, Candie, can’t wait to join their fellow hookers (rug hookers, that is) for the first annual Wings Falls hook-in, sponsored by her good friend Lucy, who owns The Ewe and Me Woolery. Sam is looking forward to an afternoon with her fellow hookers, the Loopy Ladies, filled with gossip, food, and buying lots of wool for her rug making projects.

But what should be friendly fun turns into a deadly disaster, when Samantha stumbles upon a fellow hooker in distress—who dies in Sam’s arms before help can reach her. The dead woman, Hilda Pratt, wasn’t exactly beloved by all—least of all Lucy. Hilda had been copying Lucy’s designs and selling them on the internet as her own. And when Sam’s new boyfriend, a Detective Hank Johnson of the Wings Falls police force, determines that Hilda did not die of natural causes, Lucy and the Loopy Ladies become suspects in the woman’s murder.

It’s suddenly up to Sam and Candie to ferret out a killer among the tight knit world of rug hooking. With her faithful dachshund, Porkchop, in tow, Sam wades through the suspects and finds Hilda had more than one enemy among those closest to her. But can Sam figure out which one is a murderer. . . before it’s too late?
