Sometimes the best way to know a person is by asking questions, so let’s meet Savannah.
What is your name?
Savannah Webb.
How old are you?
I’m not yet thirty, but it’s getting very, very close. There’ll have to be a party. A big party.
What is your profession?
I am the owner of both Webb’s Glass Shop and Webb’s Studio.
Do you have a significant other?
I have a new boyfriend.
What is his/her name and profession?
His name is Edward Morris and he is recently from England. He owns the Queen’s Head Pub which is right next door to Webb’s Glass Shop. He makes incredible coffee and scones. Can that man cook!
Any children?
No.
Do you have any sibling(s)?
No.
Cats, dogs or other pets?
I have Rooney, a large Weimaraner puppy, and Edward has Snowy, a rambuntous kitten. She is a Turkish Angora. Beautiful and affectionate. We do get the odd hissing fit, but mostly they’re devoted to each other.
What town do you live in?
St. Petersburg, Florida.
House or building complex? Own or Rent?
I inherited the family Craftsman home from my Dad.
What is your favorite spot in your house?
When the weather is cool, the swing on the front porch. When its Africa-hot, my favorite place is the living room.
Who is your best friend?
Amanda Blake is my BFF. She is now completely running Webb’s Glass Shop. That leaves me free to expand the business and investigate a murder or two.
Amateur sleuth or professional?
I’m an amateur, but I consult for the St. Petersburg Police Department as a subject matter expert in all things artististic — specializing in glass art.
Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
Detective David Parker and Officer Joy Williams are my points of contact within the St. Petersburg Police Department. They find me both helpful and irritating, but I’m good with that.
Favorite meal?
Fish & Chips from Edward’s pub.
Favorite dessert?
Fresh out of the oven cherry pie with plain vanilla ice cream.
Favorite hobby?
Rooney and I love to participate in agility classes and meets.
Favorite vacation spot?
Vacation? What’s a vacation — I have a business to run!
Favorite color?
Colors are my life. How could I choose just one? I tend to favor a combination for a few months. Then, for no reason at all, I’m drawn to another palette. That’s good for my business as I always have something new to offer clients and students.
Favorite author?
It’s a straight out tie between Louise Penny and Ann Cleeves.
Favorite sports team?
I don’t watch sports, but with the World Cup is on, I’m a rabid fan along with Edward.
Movies or Broadway?
Neither. I enjoy our local live performances by the St. Petersburg Opera Company.
Are you a morning or a night person?
Luckily, I’m an early morning riser. Rooney and I have a run every morning before the sun and the heat take over.
In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
The alarm goes off a six to feed Rooney and Snowy — all so that Rooney and I can get in a fairly long run followed by a little agility training in the back yard. Then I fix breakfast and try to get out of the house without waking Edward. He works at the pub pretty late most nights. Then I’m off to Webb’s Glass Shop before opening time to get my paperwork done before students and customers arrive. Every week, I’m an instructor for at least one class, sometimes two. I usually check on Webb’s Studio located a few blocks South at least once a day. Then I stay behind after closing to do more paperwork and prepare for the next day’s class. I go home to take care of the pets and either join Edward at the Pub for dinner or he comes home and makes us a fabulous meal. After that, I have some time to myself for a little reading before taking Rooney on his evening run. Wow, so where do I find time to investigate murders? I make time.
Giveaway: Have you ever taken an artistic class? Leave a comment below for your chance to win a print copy of Shattered at Sea. U.S. entries only, please. The giveaway ends September 3, 2018. Good luck everyone!
You can read about Savannah in Shattered at Sea, the fifth book in the “Webb’s Glass Shop” mystery series. The first book in the series is Pane and Suffering.
A Mediterranean cruise gives glass shop owner Savannah Webb a chance to demonstrate her expertise—and fire up her skills when it comes to foul play . . .
When Savannah signs on to perform glassblowing on a ship, part of the appeal is that she’ll get a chance to reconnect with her boyfriend Edward’s family. An added bonus is that Edward’s cousin, Ian, will be joining them on board. But when Ian disappears at the beginning of the cruise, the ship’s authorities initially consider it suicide.
Savannah tries to balance her growing suspicions with work on her shows, but her relationship with the other glass artists begins to crack. And she can’t let love color her judgment when Edward suddenly jumps to the top of the suspect list. His fate is in Savannah’s hands, and she’ll do everything she can—on land and sea—to clear his name . . .

The closest I’ve come to taking an artistic class is going to a local club to try to learn to knit and one to crochet! Enjoyed both but neither seems to be my forte!
By the way, my IP address will show up as UK…but I am a Californian by birth, currently live in Pennsylvania, but have spent summer in UK. I head home next week.
I think the search for the art that speaks to you is almost the best part. I’m going back to art class this fall. New supplies!
Never taken a class of any kind , however I do like to do crafty things and I make all my own cards.
No I’ve never taken a class, I have no artistic talents unless you count most of the time staying in the lines in a coloring book. I’ll stick to reading about others talents.
I love buying the crayons more than I love coloring. 😉
I do not have any artistic talent, so no, I haven’t taken a class. I do enjoy choosing colors and fabrics for our home.
I love decorating, but don’t get the chance very often.
I don’t really have artistic talent. The only class I’ve taken is a beading class. I’m not sure it qualifies as an artistic class, but I really enjoyed it.
Beading is definitely artistic — I’ve seen the bead aisle in my local craft shop. Wow! I would have a difficult time choosing.
I took a cake decorating class, and a sewing class way back in the 60s. Now my greatgranddaughter is interested in cake decorating!
Oh, that’s precious. I bought my granddaughter a sewing machine for Christmas. Maybe a little ahead of time, but she’ll use it someday.
I have never taken an artistic class. Art is not one of my strengths 😊
I visit Museums as a way of filling the well after a hard day putting words on paper — it works as well as painting for me.
The only artistic class I’ve taken was the required art class in junior high. For someone who thought they had no artistic ability and an unscrupulous teacher, I traded my Emmett Kelly clown doll (which I thought I had outgrown and didn’t realize its value) for a A in the class.
Now although I don’t consider myself artistic, I have found that art comes in all forms. I love to take photos and find that photography like art is a matter of interpretation and can definitely be art. I also love to bake and consider some of my somewhat masterpieces from the oven a form of art. 🙂
I enjoyed meeting and learning more about Savannah Webb. I would love the opportunity to read the book which is on my TBR list.
Thank you for the wonderful chance to win a copy of “Shattered at Sea”.
Wow! What a story about your Emmett Kelly clown doll. I’m glad you found photography. I love taking pictures. Good Luck in the drawing for SHATTERED AT SEA.
I have never taken any classes but I do like to do all sort of crafty things. And I make my own cards.
I’m sure I would enjoy a class, but have never taken one. I do IG Poetry with our COA and the High School though…and enjoy cooking and baking.
I’m impressed — poetry is a gift.
I’ve taken an oil painting class. It was wonderful to use my need to create in painting on canvas and glass. It is one of my desires to eventually learn how to do stain glass. Thanks Dru Ann for sharing Cheryl’s latest book.
Oil painting is my second art form. I’m about to sign up for a class down the street from me. If I sign up, I will go.
I have done the paint classes that are popular now and really enjoyed them. Thank you for the chance to win a copy of “Shattered at Sea”.

Painting is almost as much fun as setting up the palette. I’m a little OCD that way. Good Luck.
I have never taken an artistic beyond crocheting in high school. Thank you for the chance to win!
You’re welcome! My pleasure to share this book.
I did take a painting class once and loved it. But I would really like to try a stained glass class. I love all art glass! Your book sounds fun. I have visited St Pete and really liked it. So i like your setting, your subject and it has a cat and dog! What more do you need?
I took decorative painting classes MANY years ago, mainly oils but also some acrylic. I enjoyed pen and ink projects for their “coloring book” style. Nowadays I play with colors in the form of stamping and paper crafting projects.
One of my work friends made greeting cards. They are fabulous and I’ve saved each one. Good Luck.
I’ve never taken any artistic classes except for the required art classes in school.
I took a drawing class in college many years ago. It’s the first time I had a class that used a nude model, but it was interesting to see how everyone adjusted and learned to draw the human body.
What an experience! I haven’t drawn from a nude, yet. That awaits me! Good Luck!
I have taken classes in woodworking, cake decorating, floral arranging, table decorations/centerpiece, ceramics, Zentangle, painting/art and sketching with all mediums, Asian ink drawing, jewelry making, gourmet cooking on various cruises, and many craft classes. My mother taught my two sisters and me how to bake and cook and how to sew and do decorative hand sewing. I’ve taken other classes like herb cooking, canning, etc. and making soap and things like this. I’ve tried a lot of things and do one if them almost daily and even though I combine my art and my love of sea glass and shells and stones from the ocean into jewelry or art work, I’ve never taken an actual glass or stained glass course which I’d love to do. I’m still hoping to use kilns to slump glass and create serving dishes. There’s so much more to learn and I’m hoping to still fit in a few more artistic creations before …..
I can’t. 😀
I love creating from my imagination especially with all kinds of art and jewelry making.
Definitely love stained glass art and blown glass creations very much so hope those will be next to learn.
Thank you. Congratulations on your release.
Cynthia
Thank you! I think you would enjoy a fused glass class. It wouldn’t take you long to get the gist of it since you have so much craft experience. Good Luck!
Yes, I have taken watercolor classes. Thanks for the great post & giveaway.
Wow! I find watercolor painting very liberating — so free and exacting at the same time. Good Luck!
I took a tole painting class.!! Legallyblonde1961@yahoo.com
I love watching someone ELSE do that. I’m rubbish. It is a beautiful art.
I tool lessons in silk painting and it was a wonderful outlet for me. I learned about blending colors or using resist to keep them separate. I ended up painting a lot of silk scarves and pillows which I gave away for gifts. It was fun, but then my triplets wanted to paint silk as well and that got a little expensive…on to different things.
Thanks for the chance to win your book!
I’m a bit of a serial artist myself. I haven’t tried silk painting. Hmmmmm.
I took silk painting lessons and loved making scarves and pillows. I loved learning how to let colors mix or use resist and keep them separate.
Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your book. It sounds wonderful!
You are VERY welcome. Good Luck!
I don’t have an artistic bone in my body! I really admire people who are artistic, it’s a great talent.
Art appreciation is a learned activity. All artists need support. Good Luck!
I have taken painting classes with a friend but that didn’t last long. I have no artistic talent. Thanks for the chance to win!
I took art classes in middle/high school, but nothing like that since then! I have dabbled in things like stamping and knitting over the years. Thanks for the chance to win!
A drawing class in college – it was fun.
I am not artistic at all!
But I did take a class on putting together a basket, and I do scrap booking. I am a fan of this author!
I’m not very artistic but my grandmother was a painter of oil and water colors.I took a drawing class once and did better than I thought I would. Not good, but better than I’d expected.
Looking forward to reading more of this series. I cruise a lot so the cruise ship setting is appealing.
I’ve never taken any classes. My mother taught me how to embroider. When I was a kid I embroidered on a bunch of my dads handkerchiefs. I have painted some pictures and drawn by looking at a picture. I’ve never learned to crochete. My mother, grandmother and great grandmother all did.
I’ve taken many art classes. Jewelry making, wire wrapping, glass bead making & the most fun was when hubby & I went to the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts & took week long classes. Neither of us wanted to leave. He took a cabbing class & I took silversmithing. In HS I majored in art so I do draw, although I haven’t painted in years.
I’ve never taken an artistic class, as I am not artistic……
thank you for the giveaway!!
I took a sewing class in the seventies. Art class in high school. I used to paint ceramics and I painted on material. Also scrapbooking. Thank you for the giveaway.
I took a ceramics class in college & created items for gifts. Twenty years later my dad still uses his bowl. I would love to go back & take more creative classes. I look forward to reading Savannah’s new adventure. Thank you for the giveaway.
My husband and I took a Lakewood head class. He was very talented and because an artist.
