From Charlaine Harris, the bestselling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale—populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that’s how the locals prefer it. . .
Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.
There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).
Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth. . .

New series, looks great! Thanks for the chance 🙂
Looks like a great new series. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book.
I have not ventured into Harris’ other books other then the Sookie ones but this sounds awesome.
I read the first few Sookie Stackhouse books, and I was very attached to the Lilly Bard series (sad there wasn’t more of that). This one sounds like the best of both of those. And you know me, I always like to get in at the beginning of the series.
I enjoyed Sookie- this one sounds just as intriguing!
I love all of her series. I would love to win a copy of this book. Thank you for the opportunity.
She is such a talented author! The book sounds great~thank you for the review and the contest!
I want to know more about Manfred’s secrets!
A delightful book which I enjoyed greatly.
Anyone who gets glitter on her covers has definitely made it. Besides, Charlaine is out there meeting her readers often and we love her for it. I want to own everything Harris.
Another good series. Added to my TBR. Thanks.
This sounds pretty intriguing and I prefer to start a series at the beginning.
There have been some hotels that I’ve questioned after I’ve checked in—-I probably would in this town. Thanks for the contest—I’d love to read this book.

I enjoyed the early Sookie stories. Sadly, when Trueblood came on it spoiled it all for me. (That is, I disliked what the show had done to the books by turning them into supernatural soap porn)
This sounds like a great new series.
This is a terrific book that I was praying would become a series. I do not need to win since I’ve read it but to those of you who have not: Read it! I’ve already ordered Day Shift!
Sounds like a great series, I’ll be putting this on my TBR list!
