My name is Sienna Murray. I’m a high school senior and I live in Wildwood Cove on the Olympic Peninsula. It’s a cute town about half an hour from Port Angeles, and my favorite thing about it is the beach. I love living by the ocean! Next year I’ll be off to college, but for now I’m still at home, living with my mom and dad in our beachfront Victorian, where my mom runs a bed-and-breakfast.

On weekdays I have school and homework (blergh), but on the weekends and during the summer I work at the local pancake house, The Flip Side. Most of my friends say the best part of their job is the paycheck. I love getting paid (of course) but I also love my job. Maybe it sounds crazy, but the people I work with are like a second family.

Ivan, the head chef, is like a giant teddy bear. A scary-looking, tattooed teddy bear, but still, I adore him, and he makes the best food. I especially love his s’mores crêpes. Delicious! His assistant, Tommy, is closest to my age and lots of fun. He’s even taught me to ride a skateboard. Leigh’s a waitress like me. She’s like a favorite aunt, and her three daughters are super cute. I babysit them once in a while.

The person I’m closest to at The Flip Side is the owner, Marley Collins. I’d say she’s a combination of a big sister and a close friend. We share a love for mysteries and my favorite days are the ones we spend sleuthing together. I’d like to think I’m her sidekick. I’m not sure she’d agree to call me that though. She’s always worried about me getting into danger, but I think we make a great team. A dynamic sleuthing duo! I’m going to miss working at the pancake house and solving mysteries with Marley once I go away to college, so for now I’m going to make the most of my days at The Flip Side.

Marley and her new husband Brett need some quality couple time before the holiday madness, so they drive up into the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula to charming Holly Lodge. Despite some barely concealed marital tension between the owners of the lodge, they’re finally able to unwind . . .

Until one morning when they notice a glove sticking out of a snowbank outside of the lodge. Inside the glove is a hand connected to a frozen corpse buried beneath the snow—lodge owner Kevin Manning has been murdered. Presented with a stack of suspects and eventually stranded at the lodge by a blizzard, Marley has to catch the cold-hearted killer before someone else gets iced . . .
