Let’s get one thing straight right from the start. I honestly never look for trouble, and certainly not for murder, but it still manages to find me just fine on its own.
All I ever really wanted was to run my pizzeria, A Slice of Delight, with my husband, Joe, but when he died unexpectedly, my whole world fell apart. Thank goodness my sister, Maddy, was there for me when it happened, or I would have lost it all in my grief. She’s everything I’m not–blonde, bold and brash, with a history of more husbands than any one woman should ever have–but she saved my life when she moved back to Timber Ridge, North Carolina and somehow managed to keep the pizzeria afloat until I could pull myself back to the land of the living. We get by just fine running it together these days with the help of two kids from the local college, but the line between profit and loss is always razor thin.
Some folks in our small town believe that I’m a magnet for trouble, but it’s not my fault.
Take what happened recently. A friend of ours was holding the grand opening for her new bookstore, and she roped us into helping her appease a celebrity chef who was there to sign his new cookbook. How were we supposed to know when we agreed to lend a hand that the man was the biggest diva anyone could imagine? Within ten minutes of meeting him, Maddy and I were both ready to kill him ourselves. Not really; that’s an unfortunate figure of speech. I really should be more careful about how I word things. Anyway, back to the chef. He demanded the use of our pizza parlor on the day of his book-signing so he could prepare himself, and we’d already committed to helping, so what could I do but give him a key to the Slice? It sounded innocent enough, right? Unfortunately, it turned out to be anything but, and Maddy and I were thrown into yet another murder investigation that somehow seemed to directly involve us.
A lot of folks believe that living in a small town in the North Carolina Foothills is a quiet, laid back kind of life.
Boy, are they ever wrong.

I’m amazed when I discover a book that I’ve enjoyed is written by the same author. Adding this one to my list.
As someone else has said–you had me at pizza. And also with a mystery and chefs!

Thanks again, everyone! I include at least one recipe per book, and that particular research is something I happily undertake! I have great fun writing this series. As for the reason for so many names, it’s solely due to my publishers. If it were up to me, I’d love to have my name on everything!
Best,
Tim (Chris)
Love your pizza series….
