Why do you write the genre that you write?
I write multiple genres: mystery, horror, dystopian, paranormal, supernatural. I enjoy mystery because it’s a challenge to plant clues and red herrings so the reader solves the mystery along with my MC. I enjoy dystopian because it’s my favorite genre to read. I enjoy horror because I grew up on it and I love a good fictional scare.

Tell us how you got into writing?
When I was 9 years old I wrote a poem about the first day of school. I never looked back. I write novels and short stories now. I quit writing poetry in college and shredded every bit of my angsty teenage poetry and LoTR fanfic poetry. You’re welcome.

What’s next for you?
I’m 3/4 finished with the book I’ve wanted to write for years—a retelling of The Oresteia in a modern traveling carnival. Greek drama is the best. When it’s ready, I’ll go on a new agent hunt and audition one of the many mystery series I’ve been wanting to write.

What are you reading now?
Gods of Jade and Shadow and Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. She’s at the top of my “must read everything by her right now” list. I’m also biting my nails waiting for the sequel to Simon Paul Wilson’s GhostCityGirl and book 6 in K.A. Stewart’s fantastic Jesse James Dawson series.

Now to have some fun . . .

Vanilla or chocolate
Chocolate. Specifically, Lindt reindeer and Cadbury Mini Eggs, mmm.

Pizza or burgers
Pizza

Broccoli or squash
Eh, broccoli, I guess.

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner
Breakfast! I could eat breakfast for every meal.

Mountain or beach
I used to answer “beach” until I spent time in the Adirondacks. I never knew I would fall completely
in love with tall pines. And the air in the mountains smells so fresh!

Introvert or Extrovert
I’m a writer. Therefore, I’m a hermit at heart.
(Although I can’t wait for the next writers’ conference. I miss everyone!)

And even more fun . . .

You are stranded on a deserted island. What are your three must-haves?
The biggest steamer trunk in history filled with books. Reams of paper and InkJoy pens. Matches
and a cast-iron frying pan to cook the fish I catch and to bonk any troublesome critters.

My bio:
Baker of brownies and tormenter of characters, Alice Loweecey celebrates the day she jumped the wall with as much enthusiasm as her birthday. She grew up watching Hammer horror films and Scooby-Doo mysteries, which explains a whole lot. When she’s not creating trouble for her sleuth Giulia Driscoll or inspiring nightmares as her alter-ego Kate Morgan, she can be found growing vegetables in her garden and water lilies in her koi pond.
