Why do you write the genre that you write?
I have loved mysteries since I was a child. It’s what I always read, and I never really considered another genre.

What’s the quirkiest quirk one of your characters has?
In the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries one of my characters is always carrying around a polka dotted comfort pig.

How did you come up with your pseudonym?
I did write under the pen name Isabella Alan for a few years, but I write under my own name now. Isabella is my niece’s first name, and Alan was my father’s middle name.

Tell us how you got into writing?
When I was eleven-year-old I read a story I wrote to my 6th grade English class and was hooked. I knew this was what I wanted to do.

What jobs have you held before, during and/or after you became a writer?
I’ve work in libraries most of my life. I was a librarian and left to write fulltime in 2018.

Where do you write?
Mostly on my bed or on a big chair in my office.

What is your favorite deadline snack?
It varies, but I craved donuts with my last book.

What is next for you?
I have some fun things coming out soon! The next Amish Candy Shop Mystery, Peanut Butter Panic, comes out August 23rd. Also, I’m so excited to share that my first historical mystery will release September 20th. It’s called Because I Could Not Stop for Death, and Emily Dickinson is the sleuth!
