Why do you write the genre that you write?
I’ve always loved mysteries, and devoured Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie novels as a child. But I didn’t know what a cozy mystery was until 2014, when an agent told me that’s what I had written. So, I guess I just fell into writing them.
Tell us how you got into writing?
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was eight years old. In college, I wrote and directed my own play for my senior project (a murder mystery of course!) It was a lot of work but I enjoyed the process so much. After college I went to work for a local newspaper but there wasn’t much of an opportunity to be as creative as I wanted. I got married, had children, worked full time and never seemed to have time for writing. Or I’d start to write a book and give up after a couple of pages. After I wrote my first novel it became easier. I’ve learned so much about perseverance during the last seven years.
What’s next for you?
Knee Deep in Dough, book 10 in the Cookies & Chance series was recently released, and book 11, Dessert is the Bomb, will be out later this year. The Enemy You Gnocchi, book 3 in the Italian Chef mysteries (and a Christmas cozy) comes out on October 26th. And. . .I have a new cozy mystery series coming in 2022! The setting is a maple syrup farm in Vermont. A young woman takes over running the place after her father is murdered. I’m very excited about it!
What are you reading now?
I finished Prairie Fires, the biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder. What an amazing story!

Now to have some fun . . .
Vanilla or chocolate
Chocolate
Pizza or burgers
I love both, but pizza with white sauce and broccoli is a definite favorite.
Broccoli or squash
Again, both, but squash stuffed with meat and rice is sooo good!
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner
Breakfast. And having it for dinner is even better!
Mountain or beach
Beach, with a book of course.
Introvert or Extrovert
Extrovert. I used to be quite the introvert, but the older I get the more I find that changes.
And even more fun . . .
You are stranded on a deserted island. What are your three must-haves?
Only three? Coffee, my laptop so that I can write, and the third would be a tie
between books and my husband. But don’t tell him that, lol.
