Why do you write the genre that you write?
I wanted to write books that both my mother and my granddaughter would be happy reading. Cozy mysteries exploit strong character development combined with an interesting setting, all without profanity, graphic violence, or gratuitous sex.
Tell us how you got into writing?
During my previous job as an engineer, I spent a lot of time on long-haul flights. On a trip to Sydney, I had a book to read, of course, but it wasn’t very good. Bad plot, shallow characters, weak and unrealistic dialogue. I could do better than that, so I started writing a mystery — how hard could it be? Famous last words. It’s fiendishly hard.
What’s next for you?
I’m writing another book in the Webb’s Glass Shop Mystery series tentatively titled Reflection Of Malice.
What are you reading now?
How To Raise An Elephant by Alexander McCall Smith
