Now it’s time to learn more about the authors we read. . .

Why do you write the genre that you write?
Cozy mysteries are fun to write, and also satisfying—the good guys win, and the bad guys lose.

What’s the quirkiest quirk one of your characters has?
Emily’s cat Dep, short for Deputy Donut, likes wearing a harness and walking on a leash.

How did you come up with your pseudonym?
I wanted an author name that sounded cozy, and Ginger Bolton seemed to work.

Tell us how you got into writing?
I always wanted to write novels. As I said before, cozies are fun!

What jobs have you held before, during and/or after you became a writer?
I used to work in finance, using data and statistics. It was a good place to study characters. But words are more fun than numbers.

How many books do you have published?
Lucky thirteen—five Threadville Mysteries written as Janet Bolin. DOUBLE GRUDGE DONUTS is my eighth Deputy Donut Mystery.

Where do you write?
At home. I wouldn’t be able to concentrate in a donut shop. Imagine writing in Deputy Donut with all of those villains and victims dropping clues! Who would be able to write? Except for taking notes . . .

What is your favorite deadline snack?
Popcorn

Who is an author you admire?
I love Mary Stewart’s suspense novels.

What’s your favorite genre to read?
Cozy mysteries.

What are you reading now?
THE MERRY WIDOW MURDERS by Melodie Campbell—light, and fun

What is your favorite beverage to end the day?
This is embarrassing. Skim milk.

What is next for you?
BLAME THE BEIGNETS, the ninth Deputy Donut Mystery comes out November 26, 2024. I’m working on the tenth Deputy Donut Mystery.

Where can we find you?
On my website at gingerbolton.com, on Facebook, and on Instagram.

My bio:
Ginger Bolton, who loves donuts and coffee, writes the Deputy Donut mystery series—coffee, donuts, cops, danger, and one curious cat. DOUBLE GRUDGE DONUTS is the eighth Deputy Donut Mystery. Watch for BLAME THE BEIGNETS to arrive on store shelves in the end of November. When Ginger isn’t plotting, writing, or reading, she’s crocheting, knitting, sewing, interacting with an overly dramatic rescue dog, or generally causing trouble. As Janet Bolin, Ginger wrote the Threadville Mysteries—murder and mayhem in a village of crafty shops.
