Why do you write in the genre that you write?
I grew up reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys’ mysteries and watched Alfred Hitchcock and detective shows.

What’s the quirkiest quirk one of your characters has?
In most of my stories, the protagonist drives a classic car like a 1955 Thunderbird or a restored VW Bug. Although not a peculiar trait, it does become part of their persona.

Tell us how you got into writing?
I wrote poems, newsletter columns, and was a contributor to the Virginian-Pilot newspaper. After that, I combined my love of reading mysteries and writing professional articles which led to writing crime fiction.

What jobs have you held before, during and/or after you became a writer?
I worked at a fast-food restaurant as a teenager. But I’ve actually been an administrative assistant my entire adult life. I chose the profession in my eighth grade typing class because of my teacher’s encouragement of my fast-typing skills. After college, I worked in the transportation industry. And for the past thirty plus years, I’ve worked in the financial industry. I am also an event planner, Corporate News reporter, and a Notary Administrator. I wear many hats at work and continue to build my skillset since we are never too old to learn.

Where do you write?
In my car during my lunch hour, evenings after work, and weekends in my home office.

What is your favorite deadline snack?
Stacy’s bagel chips with cream cheese.

Who is an author you admire?
Hank Phillippi Ryan. Her support and generosity to the mystery community is truly admirable. Plus, she is a great writer.

What’s your favorite genre to read?
Cozy mysteries. I read them to develop my writing craft because I love mysteries.

What are you reading now?
Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys to prep for a panel. I also finished Here Comes the Body by Maria DiRico.

What is your favorite beverage to end the day?
Sweet tea and a small glass of Rose’.

What is next for you?
“What’s a Little Murder Between Friends,” in Malice, Matrimony, and Murder is on pre-sale. “Maid of Murder,” will appear in First Comes Love, then Comes Murder anthology next year. “Murder at the Banks” will be published in Costal Crimes: Death takes a Vacation anthology next year. And my first novel, The Bride Arrived DOA, a catering hall mystery is in edits.
