You Dropped a Blonde On Me by Dakota Cassidy is the first book in the new “Ex Trophy Wives” contemporary romance series. Publisher: December 2010

She was the perfect party-planning, haute-to-the max trophy wife. Now Maxine Cambridge is broke, unemployable and living with her mother and teenage son in a retirement village. Max knows she has only herself to blame or not having a real life in the first place—well, herself and her wealthy, controlling soon-to-be ex-husband. When her lack of skills makes her lose out on a job at the local Cluck-Cluck Palace and she’s reduced to scooping poop for cash, Max is about as jacked up as her self-esteem.

Until her geeky former classmate Campbell Barker shows up out of the blue, all grown-up—and off-the-scale smokin’ hot. Campbell refuses to believe Max isn’t still that smart, funny girl he’s crushed on since back in their senior year chemistry class. The more Max tries to show him he’s wrong, the more she rediscovers her long-retired mojo. Now, Max is ready to throw down some payback on her ex-life and battle for what’s hers, and she’s even more determined to do it standing on her own. But Campbell is one knight who won’t let this princess go without a fight.

Max is reeling from her soon-to-be ex with his antics towards her and her son. While she is living in a retirement village with her mother, she’s trying to find a job, any job that she’s not really qualified for. Running into Campbell who saw a different Max growing up. Little by little he’s bring out the real Max until it explodes for the betterment of mankind. This was an absolutely enjoyable story. It was fun watching Max gain back her independence while trying to survive life with no money. The Walmart scene had me rolling on the floor. The quirky characters, the situations and the dialogue (both internally and externally) made this book a joy to read.
