Book Synopsis
A daring holiday heist at the local history museum sends hairstylist Marla Vail on her most tangled case yet.
When salon owner Marla Vail agrees to speak at the local history museum’s gala opening for a new exhibit, she expects applause—not a catastrophe. But shortly after she takes the stage, a thief steals the featured diamond-studded hairbrush, leaving behind an empty display case and a badly injured security guard.
Marla’s friend, museum curator Becky Forest, begs for her help in recovering the prized heirloom before the mayor uses this scandal as an excuse to cut their funding. To make matters worse, the antique hairbrush comes with a curse, and suddenly bad luck is spreading through town faster than a botched dye job. As Hanukkah festivities begin, Marla would rather be lighting candles than chasing clues, but with Becky’s job at stake, she takes on the case.
Her trail leads to a knot of suspects including the hairbrush’s owner, his greedy cousin, shifty museum staff, and a reclusive collector of mystical antiquities. Instead of enjoying menorah lights and latkes, Marla discovers murder, lies, and larceny. She’ll need sharp wits and a holiday miracle to save the museum and to keep the truth from being brushed aside.

This is a terrific series! Glad to see a new release
Thanks so much, Mary!
I like cozy mysteries because most of the gore is off the page. They usually have a likable female amateur sleuth and a small, close-knit community. And sometimes, animals play a role in the story.
Sharon, I agree that cozies are pleasant because they are “clean” stories where the bad guy gets caught and justice is served.
Congrats on your upcoming release!
Thank you. Diane!
Give me a mystery anytime.
I’m a fan of cozy mysteries myself, Karen. And I appreciate the touch of humor and romance that often accompanies these stories.
I love cozies because they are good, clean reads and stories that are relatable.
Dianne, I agree that cozies are relatable, especially with an amateur sleuth who has a reason to get involved in solving the crime.
I love cozy mysteries because they are relatable, interesting and always a quick read. Once you get started you just can’t put them down. So glad that the series has a new upcoming release.
Thank you, Yifat. I, too, like cozies because they are lighthearted and fast-paced with a relatable protagonist. We know the kind of story we’ll get when we pick one up.
I love the bond of the characters whether family or found family, the small town settings and how they are light hearted
Nancy, I’m also a fan of family relationships and small-town settings. That’s why I like to watch Hallmark movies and the Hallmark mystery channel. Their cozy mystery movies are always fun.
I love the quirky characters which makes for a fun story.
Cherie, I enjoy creating the suspects. It’s fun to figure out their secrets and see how they relate to each other. The sleuth’s family and friends are even more important in a series. And yes, they can all be quirky.
