Hi, everyone. My name is Angel Sinclair, and Iβm a self-described geek, gamer, loner and hacker. I’m also the youngest senior at Excalibur Academy for the Technologically Gifted and Talented in Washington, DC. I was pushed ahead a year because of my high IQ and considerable prowess behind the keyboard, making me an outcast even among my own peers. Iβve recently made a couple of friendsβa huge development for me. We formed a group called the White Knights (white hat hackers) dedicated to helping people and solving mysteries the cyber way. Guess you could call us an updated version of Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden. We assisted the U.S. government bring down a foreign hacker, so now weβve been invited to try out for a super-secret spy school to see if we can expand on our talents.
Iβm pretty sure itβs not every day that a red-haired, freckled teenage girl is invited to become the next American version of James Bond. Iβm still trying to wrap my head around that. But apparently there are people in high places that think Iβm spy material. I wasnβt sure I had what it takes to be a secret agent, but I decided to give it a shot. Iβve always like to think outside the box anyway, and being a spy would certainly give me that opportunity.
Interestingly enough, thereβs a chance I come by the spy talent genetically. My dad may, or may not have, been a spy at the National Security Agency or NSA. I’ve been looking for him all my life. A brilliant mathematician and cryptographer, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances when I was eighteen months old. Although my mom tells me I must put him in my past, it only makes me more determined to find out what happened to him. I donβt like thinking it, but maybe Iβm being invited as a way to get to my father. If heβs even still aliveβthat is.
Itβs a lot to sort through, but first I have to survive the tryouts for UTOPβthe Underage Training Operative Program. Thatβs going to be a big challenge for a geeky girl like me with the upper body strength of an infant. Iβm pretty sure Iβll never be able to do a chin-up, pull-up or push-up, even if my life depended on it. Iβve never shot anyone with a poisoned umbrella, stirred a martini, or even driven a car. But at least Iβve got my smarts, my friends, and a few secret skills of my own, so itβs game on. Geek girls rule!

You can read more about Angel in Knight Moves, the 2nd book in Julieβs young adult βWhite Knightsβ humorous, spy/mystery series released November 28, 2018.
When U.S. intelligence agencies invite teen geek and ace hacker, Angel Sinclair, and her friends to try out for a highly competitive school for government operatives, will she wash out or step into a future she never expected?
My name is Angel Sinclair and Iβm the youngest senior at a high school for technologically-gifted students. School bored me until my friends and I were unexpectedly tapped to try out for a top-secret spy academy. Iβm not sure I have what it takes to be an operative for the U.S. government, but my friends and I are going to give it our best shot.
But first I have to go up against uber-skilled candidates who can do a thousand push-ups, kill a person with a fingernail file, and make handcuffs out of paper clips. My only defining skills are my mad hacking abilities and extreme awkwardness. I donβt know what kind of spy that would make me, but Iβm not going down without a fight.
With my loyal friends by my side, weβre in a race to finish at the top of the class. Together we have the smarts. . .but weβll have to battle our insecurities and work together or miss out on an adventure of a lifetime.

I love finding a new series! Being so young and already involved in spy stuff must be thrilling!
My favourite female sleuth is Miss Marple.
Thank you for the book giveaway.
Thanks for stopping by! π ~Julie
What a great background you have for writing spy novels! I guess my favorite female sleuths would be the obvious: Kinsey Millhone and V.I. Warshawski.
Those are awesome sleuths. Was so sad to hear of Sue’s passing this year. Thanks for stopping by! π
I’ll have to go with Amelia Peabody Emerson or Nancy Drew or Maud Silver for the win!
I had an updated Nancy Drew/Trixie Belden in mind when I created Angel from the White Knights series. π
Being a bit older myself, I have a fondness for the likes of Tish Carberry (Mary Roberts Rinehart) and Lady Julia Grey (Deanna Raybourn) since I am also a historical fan.
Great choices!! π
I don’t understand how I am supposed to pick one sleuth over all the rest! I read over 300 books a year, and a majority are mysteries. With very few exceptions, the last book I read has my current favorite sleuth. If I had one favorite, I doubt I would want to read so many varied mysteries. I love Meg Langslow (Donna Andrews) for her calm methods and Jamie Winters (Kelly Rey) for her wackiness.
Hahaha! Good point! It’s hard when there are so many amazing sleuths to choose from ! π Thanks for stopping by!
This sounds like a fun series! My favorite sleuth is Kinsey Millhone.
I adore Kinsey Millhone. Was so sad about Sue’s passing. Thanks for stopping by! π
Iβll go with Miss Marple
A classic and a great one at that! π
I have many favorites, but today will go with Dame Beatrice Adela Lestrange Bradley for the fun of it!
It’s hard to choose — I agree!! Appreciate you stopping by! π
Nancy Drew & Miss. Marple are a tie for me.
Awesome! I bet you would enjoy the series! Thanks for stopping by!! π
There’s series about Teddi Gallo from Long Island I enjoyed. That author is Stevi Mittman.
I haven’t heard of this one. Excuse me, I’m off to check it out. π Thanks for the recommendation!
Always loved Nancy Drew growing up. Now I love, Agatha Raisin and Miss Marple.
This book sounds great!
What a fun new series to read! I can’t wait to read this. My favorite sleuth is Nancy Drew and Jessica Fletcher.
Excellent choices! And look at that picture of you and Nora! So cool!! π
Elisa, you’re the WINNER! Please contact me via my website at http://www.juliemoffett.com and provide your snail mail address so I can drop the book in the mail to you. π ~Julie
I love it. I was eight years old when I spent a long weekend at Ft. Meade in Md. My mom’s cousin was stationed there at the time. It was the home of Military Intel. He even took me out to “watch a parade” with him and take photos of everyone who was marching. Yep, just like that I ended up in his after action report. Jump ahead about 14 years and that got me a release from the State Dept. to take a job at Israel’s NY office of the MOD. LOL That gig lasted about 6 months.
Toss my name into your magic contest hat please Dru and let’s see what happens.
Your name is entered into that magic contest hat! My magical (sometimes!) tween will choose a name! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your story! π
As with most growing up it was Nancy Drew. Then Jessica Fletcher was a favorite. Kinsey Millhone was my favorite.
And once in while I would read enjoy Arly Hanks of Maggody.
All great choices!!! Thanks for coming by! π
I think my favorite would have to be Stephanie Plum from Janet Evanovich’s books!
Thanks for stopping by! π
My all time favorite sleuth is Nancy Drew.
Mine, too!! I read and re-read the books so many times! I still have my original copies and now my son is reading them! π
As a child, Nancy Drew….now I like just about all equally. Iβm going to really miss Kinsey Milhone. Letβs see, a recent addition to my library has been Tallulah (Tillie) Graver from Misty Simonβs serie….then there is Kay Scarpetta, oh gosh…my favorite. Ready whoever I am reading at the time.
I started with Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden, too, and I think they really fostered my love of mysteries!! π
WINNER!! Thank you all for sharing your favorite female sleuths with me and for hanging out with me today! The winner of the signed paperback of WHITE KNIGHTS is Elisa Varey! Elisa, please contact me via my website at http://www.juliemoffett.com and provide your snail mail address so I can drop the book in the mail to you. Gigantic hugs to Dru for having me! π
This sounds like such a fun series! I think my favorite sleuths would have to be Nancy Drew (as a kid) and Kinsey Millhone (as an adult).
Jessica Fletcher is one of faves….also love all the characters in Cabot Cove….
