Hi. I’m Ann Williams and in Emerald Cove, Florida I’m known locally as a fixer. It’s not the career I planned for – I have a degree in International Business from Tulane University (although my cousin almost got me kicked out by copying my papers). But perhaps working outside the norm is in my blood. I’m a descendent of the pirate Jean Lafitte.
Being a fixer has its advantages. I work when I want, help who I want, and live life on my terms. There is no typical “day in the life of” in my life. Each day brings a different adventure – some dangerous and some easy. When Chloe Jackson first arrived at the Sea Glass Saloon last summer, she needed my help. And I gave it to her because she amused me. At first, I thought she was like a helpless puppy. It didn’t take long to realize how wrong I’d been. Chloe is more like a border collie—smart, independent, hardworking, and tenacious.
The disadvantage of being a fixer is I often work in gray areas which makes having a relationship with Deputy Dan Biffle almost impossible. He’s the ultimate straight arrow. We’ve tangled on and off for years. But I’ve recently found his sights set on me and not in a good way. He thinks Chloe and I killed someone—maybe with good reason. But persuading him otherwise isn’t my top concern right now, although it might be Chloe’s.
For the first time in a long time, I need help. I don’t trust people easily, but what I’m about to do requires finesse and sealed lips. So I find myself in the awkward position of asking someone to do me a favor. In my world favors are currency and I like to hoard them, but just this once I’ll be the one owing a favor. And I’ll owe it to Chloe Jackson if she agrees to help me. I just hope I don’t get us killed in the process.

Sherry Harris gives readers a new adventure to dive into with the latest installment of her Florida-set mystery series, as local bartender Chloe Jackson’s search for treasure shores up the dead body of a contestant in the upcoming Panhandle Barback Games…
The Florida Panhandle Barback Games are coming up and Chloe’s been drafted to represent the Sea Glass Saloon—competing in various obstacle-course events that conclude with rolling an empty keg up a hill. The rivalries are so fierce that some of the participating bars even stoop to bringing in ringers.
Meanwhile, Chloe’s friend Ann—a descendant of the famed pirate Jean Lafitte—asks her to come along for a boat ride as Ann dives into the Gulf of Mexico. She’s found some old papers that may identify the location of sunken treasure. Instead, she finds a sunken body—of one of the ringers hired for the Barback Games. Now that murder is in the mix, Chloe has to figure out whether one of the competitors went overboard . . .

Thanks, Edith!
I’m going to be sitting on my hands waiting for the Brooklyn and Queens County Library’s to decide which one is going to get this book in first.
