Bewitched BotheredBewitched, Bothered, and Biscotti by Bailey Cates is the second book in the “Magical Bakery” mystery series. Publisher: Obsidian, December 2012

A WITCH WITH A WHISK

As a new witch—not to mention owner of Savannah’s most enchanting bakery—Katie Lightfoot is still getting used to casting spells, brewing potions, and mastering her magical powers. But that doesn’t mean she can’t find time to enjoy a picnic with firefighter Declan McCarthy…until she stumbles upon a corpse.

The dead man’s tattoo reveals he was a member of a secret society—and it turns out he’s missing an object that was very important to the group. When Katie learns the killer was after more than the man’s life, she and her Aunt Lucy leave the baked goods on the rack to cool and set off in hot pursuit of a killer.

This was a good read as Katie continues to learn about her magical powers and her role among the coven. In her latest adventure, she finds a dead body and uncovers another group similar to her own. When their world collides, it will take the strength of both these groups to bring a killer to justice.

I like this one because there was a good solid plot; strong character development; whimsical conversations; a great mystery that kept me guessing and fun times with the whole gang. The author did a great job in delivering an entertaining and magical enchanting whodunit that I could not put down from start to finish. I really like Katie and her friends and I’m looking forward to their next escapades in Savannah.
