Gigi peeled the curtain away from the window and looked out. Snowing again. This winter was shaping up to be the longest on record!
She was about to curl up on the sofa with a book when there was a knock on the door.
Who on earth…?
Reg ran down the hall, barking excitedly, his tail going a mile a minute.
Gigi pulled open the door to find Bill Metz standing on her doorstep.
“What a nice surprise,” Gigi said as Mertz leaned over to kiss her.
“For once everything in Woodstone is quiet—no robberies, no murders, not even any jaywalking, so I’ve got the whole day off. And,” he paused dramatically, “I thought you might like to go sledding.”
“Sledding?” Gigi hadn’t done that in years, but why not? “Sure.”
She bundled up in several layers of clothing and followed Mertz out to his car, Reg trotting alongside them.
There was a huge hill next to the Woodstone Library. Several people—mostly children—were already out sledding.
Mertz held the sled while Gigi stepped onto it carefully. She held Reg in front of her, and Mertz got on behind them, his arms around Gigi’s waist.
“Ready?”
“Ready.”
Mertz pushed off and they went sailing down the hill, Reg’s ears flapping in the breeze.
“That was fun,” Gigi said when they arrived at the bottom.
The three of them trudged back up the hill and got into position again.
Mertz pushed off, and they went flying down the hill again. This time they hit a bump and were briefly airborne. Mertz, Gigi and Reg all tumbled off the sled and into the snow.
Gigi ended up half on top of Mertz. They caught each other’s eye, and he lowered his lips for a kiss. They stayed like that until Reg bounded over and began to lick their faces.
Gigi decided that maybe winter wasn’t so bad after all.

This author is buuuuusssssy!
I just love the covers of these books, the little dog is so cute
Sounds good, love Reg he is so cute
I love this series !!!
I liked hearing about Gigi’s day! Winter has been very long here, yet a little sledding sounds like fun!
I’d love to win!
Living mostly in the parts of Brooklyn with no hill I don’t remember ever going sledding. But the scene sounds so normal for so many that I feel like I definitely missed out on something. I don’t want to miss out on this book though, so Dru toss my hat into the contest ring please.
Nora, I can’t imagine not going sledding! One time when my kids were little it started to snow late in the evening–around 9:00 pm. The girls were already ready for bed and waiting for their bedtime story. Instead I put them in their snowsuits and we went outside to go sledding on the hill beside our house! It wasn’t much of a hill, but it was fun, and they still remember it. PS My Dad grew up in Brooklyn!
Most of Brooklyn is without hills of any kind. Back in the 50’s we’d have had to take the car to Highland Park, the closest area with a good hill. The rest of the borough has to go to Prospect park and the hill there isn’t that great. What part of Brooklyn did your dad grow up in ?
Sounds like fun after such a long winter and more snow expected tonight.
The sledding almost makes me wish I was back in Chicago – almost but not quite! The book sounds like fun though, on the TBR pile.
Cute cover – already invested in this series, so I am looking forward to this book. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
This winter was so bad, we went sledding on the beach!
It has been many years, but I remember the hill next to the river and the adventure and the cold and the wonderfulness of the entire thing. Every year, everyone who was anyone in the kid game was there. Long time ago, but fun. Thanks for the reminder.
Another book on my list…. Love all of her books!
Sounds like a good series.
Maybe this is the answer to the winter doldrums. TBR
I love Peg Cochran books!!!! Thank you for the chance!!
I love the covers of your books. I must confess that your upcoming Cranberry Cove series really intrigues me. I have three grandsons going to school in Michigan right now. I also remember a couple of trips to the cranberry fields in Massachusetts. Haven’t trued your books yet, but I would love a good reason to dig into a new series. I love cozies!!
I haven’t read any of Peg’s books but looks like this would be a golden opportunity to start doing so. Thanks for the giveaway.
I’m looking forward to reading this book!
Thanks for the chance to win!
Sounds like a great read!
I really enjoy the cozy genre and have read many different authors (and it seems to be a growing genre). I have not read any of Peg Cochran’s series and this seems like the perfect opportunity to do so. The description of the book sounds delightful.
This looks so interesting. Now I’ll have to go pick up the entire series. I had seen the first one and was considering it. Yup, this month is my mystery month indulgence!
I haven’t been sledding in years, reading this brought back a lot of memories, especially the airborne, LOL. I really have to get started on this series, it sounds fun. Thanks for the chance to win.
This looks like a good series. Thanks for the chance to win.
Would love to win…adore Peg’s books!
Eager to read the latest. It sounds fun.

I love Gigi, and I have Iced to Death in my stack to be read. Hope you sell a ton, Peg!
a series that is definitely in my TBR pile!!
thank you for the giveaway!!!
Perfect series for me.
Love cozies!
It is hard to keep up with all the books that Peg writes. I got to read book 1 in the Gourmet De-Lite series and it was really good. I now need to order book 2 and 3, but would love to win it instead. 🙂 Will also be looking forward to reading the new Cranberry Cove series too. What a prolific writer, and everything is written so well. Great work, Peg/Meg.
Cynthia
That takes me back to sledding as a kid. I loved the first book.

Sounds good. I love her stuff. 🙂
As delightful as that scene is, I do not miss winters up north at all. I’ll stay with south Florida, thank you.
Gigi and Mertz go play in the snow,
Cute little Reg runs along.
They’d better kiss quick;
Hope this good mood will stick;
They’ll be snowed in by murder before long.
Thanks for a chance to win one of Peg’s delightful books.
Winter is not over yet here in Wisconsin and I could use a cozy read to keep me warm.
This series sounds great!! I’m gonna need to get the first one in the series and start reading!!
Delaware is about as flat as it gets. When I was little we walked to a cemetary that had a huge hill on the side. LOL I couldn’t make it to the top. My sisters sled down once and we walked home. A bit of a bummer.
I’m in Indiana and hope you can get down here. We’re about an hour south of Ft. Wayne just off I-69. So if you’re doing a book tour…..
Great Series! Interesting and Fun to read 🙂
I love the cover. The book sounds really good and I look forward to reading it. Thank you for the giveaway.
