Joy left Holiday Corner, Vermont twenty-five years ago for Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Boston University with a Management in Hospitality graduate degree. While working at a luxury hotel in New York City, Joy was swept off her feet by her rich, sweet talking ex-husband.
A tall, redhead with striking green eyes, forty-five year old Joy has returned to her hometown. She was reenergized by the warmth and compassion of family, friends, and neighbors. The holiday spirit of their Vermont town rings true all three hundred and sixty-five days of the year.
One of Joy’s favorite sayings: “What do you mean Santa Claus isn’t real. Of course, he is, and lives right here in Holiday Corner, Vermont.”

With a name like Joy Holiday, you’d think I’d have a permanent smile on my face. Honestly, I’ve had very little to smile about recently, and it all comes down to one word – ex-husband.
Maybe two words – wealthy ex-husband.
No wait, it is actually three words – vindictive, wealthy ex-husband.
He’s furious with me for divorcing him. Him being furious with me makes no sense. I’m not the one who didn’t remember my marriage vows. He was the one gallivanting around the world in his private jet acting as if he were single and unattached.
I should be the vindictive one, but it’s not in my nature. I say forgive and forget.
Now my ex wants to destroy the town my great-great-great grandfather founded in 1892. Well, we’ll see about that!
I love my small hometown of Holiday Corner. It’s like stepping back into a more peaceful time. Sitting here in my office, I can see dozens of stately pine trees decorated with twinkling lights. The town’s famous white gazebo has red and green bunting with huge red bows covering all sides of the octagon roof. Evergreen wreaths adorn the old fashioned lamp posts, and the store windows along Main Street are decorated with greenery and lights. On weekends the high school choir dresses in Victorian costumes to sing carols in the park.
The best part though, is when Santa Claus sits in the gazebo and greets all the excited boys and girls. I love watching Mrs. Claus hand out coloring books and the elves entertain with magic tricks as each child waits their turn to share with Santa. There’s nothing that warms my heart more than a child’s happy laughter.
No way will my cheating ex-husband destroy what generations of my family and the good people of Holiday Corner have built. I love my hometown and I’ll do whatever it takes to ensure it brings smiles and joy to children and families for generations to come.
