Lexi Carmichael first appeared in No One Lives Twice and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Lexi.

What is your name?
My name is Lexi Carmichael.

How old are you?
I’m 25 years old.

What is your profession?
I’m the Director of Information Security at X-Corp, a cutting edge cyberintelligence firm. In other words, I get paid a lot of money to protect data and online intelligence.

Do you have a significant other?
I do! I’m recently engaged.

What is his name and profession?
His name is Slash, and no, that’s not his real name. He’s a spy and uses more aliases than can fit on a single piece of paper. He’s Italian-American, super hot, and incredibly smart. He’s also the newest and youngest director of the Information Assurance Directorate at the National Security Agency. Basically he’s a wizard, or a master hacker.

Any children?
Gah! We aren’t even married yet!

Do you have any sibling(s)?
Yes! One older brother named Rock who’s a journalist for the Washington Post, and another older brother named Beau, who’s a police detective on the Baltimore police force. I’m the youngest.

Do your parents live near you?
Unfortunately, yes. Not that I don’t love my parents, I do. It’s just sometimes they, meaning my mother, becomes overly invested in my life.

Who is your best friend?
I have a couple of best friends, which is shocking to me because just a year ago I could have counted all my friends on one finger. The first and only best friend I ever made prior to a year ago was in college. Basia Kowalski was my roommate and somehow became my friend despite my efforts to remain a loner. While on vacation, I met another best friend, Elvis Zimmerman, who is a hacker like me and one half of the genius Zimmerman twins, the architects of America’s most sensitive cyber networks. But perhaps most surprising is the close and amazing friendship I’ve forged with my fiance, Slash. He gets me like no one else!

Cats, dogs or other pets?
I’m not good with animals, just like I’m not good with people. It’s hard for me to read both people and animals, so I either end up getting slobbered on, overly loved or attacked. But I’m open to trying!

What town do you live in?
I currently live in Silver Spring, MD — a compromise between my work in Crystal City, VA and Slash’s work at the NSA near Fort Meade.

House or building complex? Own or Rent?
House. Newly renovated, modern, high tech and gorgeous.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
Our office. It has the most incredible, high-end technology, most of it personally wired by Slash. We are truly the happiest there together.

Favorite meal? Favorite dessert?
Any meal cooked by Slash’s Italian grandmother, Nonna. She is a food magician. Honestly, eating her food is sheer pleasure. I have to say my favorite desserts are Italian — cooked by her. It doesn’t matter which ones!

Favorite hobby? Favorite color?
Favorite hobby is gaming. Duh! Favorite color? I never really thought about it.

Favorite author?
Kevin Mitnick. He’s the hacker that wrote Ghost in Wires. Incredibly interesting stuff.

Favorite vacation spot?
At home in front of my computer with a bowl of Cheerios and unlimited credits for online gaming!

Favorite sports team?
Unless they’re gamers, I don’t care!

Movies or Broadway?
Movies, mostly because I can stay at home.

Are you a morning or a night person?
Night owl all the way!

Amateur sleuth or professional?
Amateur, but when you are saving the world, I guess professional would also work.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
It’s always been Slash, Elvis and his twin brother Xavier, Basia, Finn (my boss) and other friends who have wormed their way into my life.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
Get up, eat breakfast with Slash, go to work, fight a little black cloud of trouble that follows me around, get involved in massive trouble, save the day/world, come home and sleep next to my incredibly handsome and capable fiance. Not a bad life for a geek girl! πŸ™‚

You can read about Lexi in No Stone Unturned, the 11th book in the β€œLexi Carmichael” international mystery series, released January 14, 2019.

Geek girl Lexi Carmichael thought getting engaged would mean calmer days ahead. But when Slash’s past brings up more questions than answers, she’s not going to let anything–or anyone–drive them apart.

Getting engaged is supposed to be a fun, exciting time in a girl’s life. But things are never that easy for Slash and me. Instead, someone is threatening to expose Slash’s past–a past so secret, even I know very little about it.

Before I can get used the weight of Nonna’s antique ring on my finger, he’s on his way to Rome…and we’re farther apart than we’ve ever been. Still, I have no intention of sitting at home and letting him take on the Vatican by himself.

With a little expert-level hacking, I learn Slash is keeping secrets from me. Big ones. Dangerous ones. In fact, the more I dig into Slash’s past, the more I discover things about him I never knew–things that eventually pit us against each other.

From Rome to the Amalfi coast to the highest levels of the Vatican, we both race to discover the truth. No matter what I find, we’re officially a team now, so I won’t let him face this alone. Even if I don’t know if our relationship can survive it.
