Can salt water taffy kill someone?

I love this Jersey shore boardwalk favorite, but I never thought it could be used as a murder weapon.

Hi. I’m Lucy Berberian. I left a Philadelphia law firm to mange my family’s Mediterranean restaurant, Kebab Kitchen, at the Jersey shore. Spring is in the air and the beach town is gearing up for tourist season, town-wide Easter egg hunts, and Bikers on the Beach—a motorcycle gathering that raises money for injured veterans. My head chef—who happened to break my heart after college—is my “new” beau. I wasn’t sure about giving him a second chance, especially since we work together every day. But a wacky boardwalk tarot card reader saw something in my cards. Who can argue with tarot?

One of the best parts about moving back home is connecting with my friends, Katie, and boardwalk candy store owner Melanie. I recently moved out of Katie’s home to find my own place. I love Katie and her husband, but it was time. How long could I crash in their house and eat their morning doughnuts? I was lucky enough to find the second floor of an eighty-year-old widow’s home. My landlady might be a bit eccentric and get into trouble at times, but we have smoothed things over. As for her temperamental shih tzu, Cupid, and my feisty orange and black cat, Gadoo, things haven’t been so smooth.

But things are looking up and I’m planning on hosting a Mediterranean Easter dinner, complete with lamb kebabs, for my family and friends at my new apartment. When the motorcycle-riding owner of a bicycle rental shop next door to the restaurant invites me and my girlfriends to a beach bonfire for a night of fun, who can say no? The sound of the surf, the ocean breeze, and the blazing bonfire all make for a unique experience. But when a disliked landlord is found dead on the beach after choking on a piece of Melanie’s famous salt water taffy, I know my friend is in sticky mess of trouble. Can I find the killer before this popular confection disappears from the boardwalk forever and the real killer costs free?

If you want to find out where Lucy’s adventures lead her and her friends and quirky family, please pick up Hummus and Homicide, Stabbed, Stabbed in the Baklava, and One Feta in the Grave, the first three books in the “Kebab Kitchen” mystery series. All the books can be read as stand-alone novels.

On The Lamb is the fourth book in the “Kebab Kitchen” mystery series, coming February 25, 2020.

Lucy Berberian is busy preparing her family’s Mediterranean restaurant for Easter on the Jersey Shore—but a batch of sweets is to die for . . .

Bikers are thundering into the seaside town of Ocean Crest for the annual Bikers on the Beach gathering that raises funds for injured veterans. It’s a big boost for the Kebab Kitchen, as well as for local businesses like Melanie Haven’s candy shop. But Melanie is about to find herself in a sticky situation.

When Melanie and Lucy attend a beach bonfire, a local landlord is found dead after apparently choking on a piece of salt water taffy. Melanie, who was known to have a contentious relationship with the victim, is quickly skewered as the prime suspect. But Lucy is determined to prove her friend’s innocence before the real killer coasts free . . .
