“Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around . . .” Yep, that’s what I’m feeling like lately, turning around and around, and running like a crazy chicken.
My sister, Sasha, and the manager of our family business, the Silver Bear Shop & Factory, is in the same boat. Itās tough keeping holiday spirits up with so many events. Novemberās Black Friday sale was crazy, when people swarmed into Silver Hollow for bargains. December will be nuts. Besides the Silver Hollow Annual Tree Lighting and Festival of Lights Parade, Sasha has to host the Holiday Open House and the big annual staff party. Oh, and a wedding ā Uncle Ross and Aunt Eve are getting remarried.
Me, Iām swamped with my new graphics arts business. I earned a fine arts degree long ago and finally had the opportunity to open Silver Moon. My new venture is far more creative than my former job working in the Silver Bear Shopās office. Thank goodness Aunt Eve took over keeping records of customer invoices, supply orders, cash flow, income and business taxes, etc. etc. Plus fielding phone calls. Iām not off the hook, though, since I have to squeeze in the family businessās social media posts and other promotion, on top of growing my client list. But Iām grateful that I already need to hire help. Thatās a good sign of success, for now.
At home, my cat is busy dealing with Sashaās dog, a poodle mix groomed like a āteddy bearā. I have to admit Rosie does look adorable, but I prefer Onyx, with her sleek black fur and loud purring in my ear every morning.
Iām up and at āem by six, while Sasha hits the snooze button forever. Sheād get more done if she would just wake up and get moving. Weāre as different as two sisters can be, but close. Sasha knows she can count on me to keep her sanity, especially given what happened at the village parade.
I mean, itās Christmas ā who in their right mind would kill Santa Bear? The silly polar bear costume only fits the mayor, and Cal Bloom was re-elected by a landslide. Did he get too close to the float generators, which brought on a heart attack? But the odd thing is, Mom and Sasha found him far from the source of any electricity. Was it an accident, or murder? Hmm.
All I know is that Sashaās smack dab in the middle of another investigation. And she hasnāt even started her holiday shopping. Bummer.
Did you have a teddy bear and if so, what was its name? Leave a comment below with your answer for your chance to win a print copy of Have Yourself A Beary Little Murder, which is limited to U.S. residents. The giveaway ends September 22, 2019. Good luck everyone!
You can read more about Maddie and Sasha in Have Yourself A Beary Little Murder, the third book in the “Teddy Bear” cozy mystery series, coming September 24, 2019.
This holiday season, teddy bear shop manager Sasha Silverman must solve the slaying of Santa Bear . . .
Sasha and her sister Maddie are thrilled that the Silver Bear Shop and Factory has won the Teddy Bear Keepsake Contest, which means they get to produce a holiday specialty toy, a wizard bear named āBeary Potter.ā Promising to be just as magical is Silver Hollowās annual tree-lighting ceremony and village parade. Only one hitch: the paradeās mascot, Santa Bearāplayed by Mayor Cal Bloomāis missing.
After a frantic search among the floats, Bloom is found dead. When the outfit is removed, itās clear the mayorās been electrocuted. Who zapped hizzoner and then stuffed him into his Santa Bear suit? While the police investigate the grisly crime, Sasha attempts to track down the murderer herself, with some help from the Guilty Pleasures Gossip Club. Can they wrap up this case in time for Christmasāor will Sasha meet her own shocking end?

Aww – it’s not too late! I bought my first teddy as an adult. Paddington. š
Sounds like a good story that Iād love to read!
I donāt remember if I had a teddy bear as a child or not as that was very long ago but I was more into sports and being outside riding bikes etc from the age I can remember. My two sisters and I always had a dog and cats so they were probably what we played with more than a bear or a doll.
Thank you.
I had smoky the bear dressed like a forest ranger. Even the hat.
I still have my childhood teddy bear. Her name is Mae and she now sits on my dresser. Hard to believe I have had so long.
I’m sure she’s a sweet bear!
I have lots of teddy bears. I have one favorite. I just call him Teddy. I’ve had him since I was about 5. I love this series and the covers are so cute.
Thank you so much, Lois!
We have several special Teddy Bears in our family. Two special ones are Beary Bear and Snuggles.

But maybe Raggedy Ann/Andy? š
I have a teddy bear named Alice — Alice Blue Jeans. She wears faded denim over-alls & carries a pink sequined shoulder bag while she sits on my bed.
My favorite little bear was given to me when I was in second grade the first time I had to ride in an ambulance. My knee had dislocated for the first time. I named him after the man who took care of me, Bob. Bob had many journeys with me and went for surgeries. He now watches over me on my dresser.
That must have been scary!! Good for Bob!
I do not remember having a teddy bear when I was a child. But I still have my son’s blue & white teddy bear from before he was born — 49 years ago. The bear’s name is “Bear.”
I have several holiday Beanie Baby bears.
Awww, how sweet! love denim overalls on a bear.
I had a teddy bear named Tommy who was my favorite toy and lasted for a long time.
Tommy Teddy, cuuute!
I had a teddy bear who was named Lawrence. The mother of a high school friend made him. Thanks for the giveaway!
I probably had a teddy bear when I was little but don’t remember it very well. I was more into my rag dolls. When I was in elementary school my uncle gave me a stuffed koala which I cherished into adulthood.
Aww, love koala bears!!
Sometimes a hand-made bear is the best!
Ahhh Gray Bear, the best little go-everywhere teddy bear ever! He managed to get lost and go on his own adventures an awful lot! I couldn’t keep him out of mischief! Fortunately mom kept track of Gray Bear and he lives happily on the dresser. He is not as fluffy as he once was, but happily still intact and loved. Beautiful cover on Have Yourself A Beary Little Murder! Can’t wait to read.
I love the cover, too! Thanks – and Gray Bear must have had a LOT of fun!!
I still have my teddy bear and his name is Brownie.
Brownie Bear – another cuuuute name!
I have a multitude of teddy bears since I am a collector. My favorite bears are the two mohair bears my parents and my husband (boyfriend/fiance then) gave me for Christmas. It was a very special Christmas since my husband not only gave me the bear, he also asked me to be his wife. It was a very special Christmas, indeed.
Such a great story, Robin!
Thanks for sharing A Day in the Life of Maddie Silverman. I also enjoyed reading about everyone’s teddy bears in the comments. I’ve had several teddy bears growing up, all named Teddy except for ones I named Ginger and Bear Bear ~
More great names!! Is Ginger a ginger? š Never have seen a red bear yet!
I have a one foot tall, purple bear with a bright red nose. She’s holding a rose in one paw and has a cute satin bow around her neck. She was a gift from a good friend out west. She sits on the guest bed in my den/library/office along with all my other stuffies and my Danny O’Day Dummy.
WOW, a purple bear!! and a foot tall – that’s a special bear, indeed!
I did have a teddy bear when I was little! Her name was Bubbles.
That is a cuuute name! hope she doesn’t like bubble baths, though! š

Thank you, Johnna! Barry Bear – sweet!
My poor Teddy was called TEDDY. I had a limited imagination as a child.
My teddy bear was just Teddy.
Nothing wrong with that name – after Pres. Theodore Roosevelt! Very distinguished!!
I still have a bear that Iāve had since high school (that was 42+ years ago!) Iāve always liked teddy bears. At one time they were all over my house. Now just down to a cherished few. Funny though, I never named any of them.
It’s not too late, though! My collection has grown, too, and I’m still finding spots to tuck them here and there. LOL
My teddy bear’s name was Rusty. He had a fake fur coat and a plastic face. This was back in the day. He went everywhere with me , even when I would be in the hospital. I still have him put away in a chest. I really loved that bear.
Awww! I love the name Rusty – a very loyal bear!
I did not have a teddy bear when I was young. My younger son had one he just called “Bear.” He didn’t really name his stuffed toys, although he had plenty of them when young!
Teddy, of course.
OF COURSE! ;-D
I have a cute little teddy bear named Barnes and he sleeps with me every night.š»
Is that the Barnes bear from B&N? I have one, plus Noble the dog. š
My first teddy bear was named ā¦ Teddy. I loaned him to a friend going through rough times when I was a teenager and they lost him. Still sad.
Oooooooh, NOOOOOOO!!!! the horror! <>
I didn’t have a teddy bear when I was younger, or now either. In fact, no stuffed animals at all.
My Hubbie bought me a teddy bear when we were first married and I had major surgery. I needed to cough and it hurt so he bought me a huge teddy bear to hug when I coughed ! I really helped!

Smoky the bear from the late fifties early 60s.
Oh yes, SMOKEY! very important bear.
I had my mom’s old teddy, aptly named Teddy, of course! Looking forward to reading this, such a fun series. Thanks for the chance to win!
Aww, thank you! Isn’t it great to have a hand-me-down bear. History!
Mine was named Woolly Bear. I got him for my first birthday from my parents and he’s always sat by my bed, even now. I love this series and I’m so excited for book 3.
Thank you, Alicia! Love the name Woolly. Sweet!
You must have a lot of bears by now, Melissa!
