Hi gang,

I’m Mia Malone. I run the catering side of one of the oldest luxury hotels in Boise, Idaho. I live with my boyfriend whose also technically my boss as he’s head of the food services department for the hotel. Mostly he leaves me alone to do what I need. In fact, when I told him I was going to take a week off to visit my grandmother and get the Magic Springs Food Bank ready to reopen, he seemed happy for the break.

Which has me a little worried. He’s probably tired of me talking about starting the remodel on the upstairs bedrooms. We bought one of those old mansions on Harrison and it’s been a remake of This Old House since we moved in. I just hope he’s not planning on redesigning my department at work while I’m gone. Isaac always knows best, at least in his eyes.

Anyway, I’m excited for the break too. And I get to spend time with my grandmother. Isaac’s baby sister, Christina is coming up to help with the food bank. I think his parents want her out of the house so they can figure out what to do with her since she came back from Vegas looking all goth instead of the preppy teenager, they watched leave. That’s a long story

I’ve written down my goals for the week in my journal. Get the food bank up and running before school starts next week. Spend quality time with my grandmother. And stay out of Magic Spring’s coven’s business. They’re always trying to get me to come to coven circles when I visit.

Oh, did I forget to tell you I was a kitchen witch?

Talk soon,
Mia

But there’s an unappetizing surprise in store. While Mia is knee-deep in boxes of donated produce, she encounters the body of Dorian Alexander.

Dorian was a warlock, leader of the local coven. He was also her Grans’ new beau. There’s no potion that’ll make this trouble disappear. But if Mia wants to keep her Grans—now a prime suspect—from serving a spell in prison, she’ll have to unearth the real killer fast. . . .
