The Madness of Mercury by Connie di Marco is the first book in the NEW “Zodiac” mystery series. Publisher: Midnight Ink, June 2016
Mercury retrograde wreaks havoc on astrologer Julia Bonatti
San Francisco astrologer Julia Bonatti’s life is turned upside down when she becomes the target of the city’s newest cult leader, Reverend Roy of the Prophet’s Tabernacle. Driven out of her apartment in the midst of a disastrous Mercury retrograde period, she takes shelter with a client who’s caring for two elderly aunts. One aunt appears stricken with dementia and the other has fallen under the spell of the Reverend Roy. To add to the confusion, a young man claiming to be a long lost nephew arrives. The longer he stays, the more dangerous things become. Is the young man truly a member of the family? Can astrology confirm that? Julia’s not sure, but one thing she does know is that Mercury wasn’t merely the messenger of the gods—he was a trickster and a liar as well.
I love stories that grabs my attention and this one did that where astrology takes center stage in this exciting new series. We are introduced to Julia Bonatti, an astrologer who does readings and have her own column. When the two collide, Julia must take things into her own hands to save the life of her client and herself and thus begin this fast-paced and action-filled drama. The author did a great job in setting this up so that I was engrossed in all aspects of this story. It was quite intriguing the way astrology was woven in the various scenes that were pivotal in how the drama played out. The suspects were aplenty and the clues were scattered throughout with each one discovered, leading us to the killer. The dialogue was engaging and I like the tone and flow in the telling of this tale that also boasted a wonderful cast of likable characters. I look forward to the next adventures with Julia and her friends.
This cozy sounds awesome!

Hi Betty – Thanks for visiting today. The Zodiac Mysteries are a little different than my other series, the Soup Lover’s Mysteries, but both characters are amateur sleuths. One just happens to live in the city and has to contend with different problems. I hope you’ll get to meet Julia soon!
