My typical day starts with a wake-up call from my cats, Binx and Truffles. They’re more effective than any alarm and they’ll use a variety of tactics to get me out of bed, from meowing loudly to attempting to pull the covers off of me. Once I’ve taken care of the most important task of the morning—feeding my feline friends—I like to spend some time doing yoga and/or Pilates. That helps to ground me and get my day off to a good start. But, to be honest, if I’m running late, my morning workout sometimes goes out the window. Most of the time I walk from my cottage to True Confections, my family’s chocolate shop, where I work as a chocolatier. However, since I’m lucky enough to live in a town that has canals instead of roads, I sometimes go to work by boat or, in the winter, I might skate along the canals to the colorful timber frame buildings of Venice Avenue, where True Confections is located.

I’m typically the first to arrive at the shop. My cousin Angie works there full-time, but she shows up a couple of hours later than me and looks after the storefront. Each day, I spend several hours making chocolates that will either be boxed up or set out in the shop’s display case. Among our most popular products are chocolate gondolas filled with an assortment of bonbons. Those are particularly popular during the annual gondola races, a summer event that should not be missed.

After work and sometimes during my breaks, I like to visit with my grandparents, Lolly and Pops (the founders of True Confections), or spend time with my lifelong friends, Dizzy and Sawyer. Of course, when there’s a mystery to be solved, my free time will likely be spent sleuthing, often with Dizzy’s assistance. We can’t help ourselves. Maybe we read too many Nancy Drew books or watched too much Murder, She Wrote (is that even possible?) while growing up, but we find mysteries irresistible. That doesn’t exactly impress Sawyer, who is now a local police officer.

Summer evenings might find me out on Shadow Lake with my kayak or reading on my patio while Binx and Truffles hang out in their catio. During the colder months of the year, I’m more likely to be found curled up on my couch, with a fire in the grate and purring cats on my lap, or perhaps hitting the slopes at the nearby ski resort town of Snowflake Canyon. No matter the time of year, I love my life. After living in Los Angeles for seven years, I appreciate Larch Haven even more and it is very much my home sweet home.

In a cute new culinary cozy from USA Today bestselling author Sarah Fox, budding chocolatier Becca Ransom must solve a murder before she meets a sticky end.

Former actress Becca Ransom lived her dream in Hollywood for seven years before returning to her hometown of Larch Haven, known as the Venice of North America. The Vermont town has canals instead of roads, gondolas instead of cars, and charming cottages plucked from the pages of a fairy tale. It’s also where Becca is pursuing her newest passion as a chocolatier at True Confections, the chocolate shop owned by her grandparents, Lolly and Pops.

While Becca’s testing new flavors and reconnecting with old friends, the town is gearing up for the annual Gondola Races, popular with both residents and tourists, with one exception. Local curmudgeon Archie Smith wants nothing more than to keep tourists away from Larch Haven. He’s determined to derail this year’s event and does his best to stir up trouble for the organizers, including Becca’s grandfather.

Following a heated argument with Pops, Archie is found floating face-down in the canal, and Pops finds himself in hot water as one of the top suspects. Becca’s determined to clear her grandfather’s name, but when the case heats up, she could be facing a sticky end.
